Do we know who produced these Sex Sells tracks that were played during the fan club thing? The production is less hooky, at least as far as I can tell. Or was this just demos?

I've heard conflicting things. I've heard they were finalized versions and Jon needed help picking the singles and I've also heard they were demos. I DO know that Crazy Love got pulled last second so they could add a guitar solo and didn't get played so that makes me think the songs weren't done.

The versions we got last decade of Gimme Song, Crazy Love, Rich man....etc sound pretty nicely produced to me. Since they're the same versions that were played that night the box set liner notes should say that info, I'll check.

However, I think it was Dave Stewart who was going to produce Sex Sells, if you take a look at songs like Rich Man, Gimme SomeSome, Crazy Love... were produced by Dave Stewart on 1997-1998 so there are big chances for him to be the producer.

But the last word belongs to JBJ...

That's a good theory but not necessarily true. What makes you think those three were produced by him in that period? D.A had Dave Stewart but also Stephen Lironi, Jon Bon Jovi, Desmond Child & Eric Bazilian producing.

That and weren't those songs written on the DA tour?

That would be hard to tell, because we can’t trust on Jon’s memory...
And you’re right about DA tour, because he showed a couple of songs that didn’t appeat anywhere else and why not try to find someone who was at that BSJBJ party because there are missing songs for sure

here it is an small idea of the producers:

<An initial plan to team up producers Bob Rock and Bruce Fairbairn fell through because of the latter's death.[2] An audition process was set up, but the band was uninterested by the producers interviewed. Eventually Bon Jovi asked A&R executive John Kalodner if he knew up-and-coming producers, and he recommended Luke Ebbin. He was brought to Bon Jovi's home studio in New Jersey, and took a demo with only vocals and acoustic guitar to add programming, string and background vocal arrangements. On his return, Ebbin was hired.[3] The choice was fortuitous as it allowed Bon Jovi to update their sound with a smattering of loops and impressive arrangements.>

These were JBJ demos for his 3rd solo album, this party was August 28th, 1998
Then JBJ changed a little the lyric for the movie...

True enough. I just sincerely think that batch of songs was written AFTER Destination Anywhere was recorded and released. There was a period of time between D.A and Crush where the songs were recorded before Luke entered the picture. I would assume Obie produced those or Jon did it himself. They all sound pretty live off the floor with minimal overdubs.

I was looking into my old PC, and I've found some documents related to the Sex Sells album... it was MTV saying that the New Jon Bon Jovi's solo album should be out for december 1998 and it was a self-produced album, powered by Desmond Child and Bruce Fairbairn. Also, looking on Desmond Child's productions (different sources) the Sex Sells tittle appears into his unsolved projects...

So I'm pretty sure that something went wrong with Mercury Records... but it won't make any sense because Jon Bon Jovi can record and release anything he wants to so, that is crazy as ****...

That's a bit confusing that it was to be self produced with Bruce Fairbairn also involved. I believe Desmond co-wrote the song Sex Sells so that might be where the confusion is.

Also that's not entirely true that he can release anything he wants to. It's up to the label what does/doesn't come out.
