Review: These Days Plus CR Unreleased Tracks

Keep the faith and These day got to be the master of all ablum. MAn now i love BJ in 90's and even their solo albums rocks big times.

My fav is 'These days', 'Heart breaking eve' 'Hey God', 'Lie to me', 'My guitar...', Hard to let it go', damned', 'If that what it takes', ' all i want', 'this aint a love song' , anything left?

I agree with you about the natural evolution part, but not about the going more pop part. Bon Jovi, to me, is never truly pop.

And I also agree with you about the lack of rock on These Days. True, there is a lack of rock on Crush, too. But they both contain some rock (like track 1 on both).

Oh, and by the way, I don't think These Days is lyrical genius. Note that the line "all the good s***'s gone" was taken from Saturday Night. "Remember those nights dancing at the masquerade" and "dance all night as the music played" sound way too similar. And don't get me started with Diamond Ring. When it comes to lyrics profound does not mean profane. If I had a nickel for every time Jon spits out a swear on that album, I'd have... well... a whole bunch of nickels.

I don't mean to be mean, and I didn't want to rip this album apart, but I think Stoney needed some backup. People who aren't fond of this album are few and far between. I can count on one hand the number of people who aren't fans of the album:

4. Mouse
5. Alec John Such (I read in an article that he hated the album. I bet if he was still in the band, everything would be in a completely different direction. But that's just me.)

Bon Jovi will never make such a great album again! TD must be the most amazing album this band ever put together. Heavy and lyrics that speaks of other things than love and hurt. I found it great to hear lyrics focusing on a bit darker side of life, loved it and still love it. Don't think one song at all on that album is a filler, even though I like some more and some less. My favourites have to be Hey God, Something For The Pain, TAALS, These Days, Lie To Me, Damned, MGLBIMA, Letting You Go and STBI (one of my top 5 tracks ever!). Hmm, not many left out from that list..
I do remember though when I went to buy the album when it came out in June and the first listens I found it to be so strange and different from earlier Jovi. However, after listening to it for a few days it grew on me, and then I went to see their show in Stockholm on July 4. When I heard the songs from that album during that show I was hooked, been my favourite ever since. For me, These Days is Bon Jovis highest point in their career so far in all aspects. But that's me, and only me...

One thing that strikes me as strange though as many of you think, why are you so negative against the album because of a few swearings in songs? There's more negative sh*t in the world than a simple cursed word in a song or two...
