Tell me one other BJ song with this structure and I'll believe you
Just 'cos BJ usually don't do that doesn't mean it's all that weird. Even for pop/rock - listen to I Can't Hold Back by Survivor and tell me which part is which. I mean, for standardized pop radio, yeah, it's slightly unusual, but hardly enough of a reason to praise the track or hold it in high regard? 'cos if that is a criteria for quality, listen to prog.

It's not only about the structure, it's the lyrics, the vocals, the harmonies between Jon and LeAnn Rimes, Richie's solo, the production... It's just a thing of beauty!

I know I keep bashing WLOL in the show threads, it's a great song that's been ruined by being played at literally almost every show since the LH tour. My favorite song from the album, unsurprisingly, is Any Other Day, followed by Everybody's Broken (it has a very personal meaning to me, much like Welcome to Wherever You Are from their previous album), Walk Like a Man, Lonely, and the Title Track, and Make a Memory in that order. I think WGIGO is horendous, and like WLOL is played way to often (I love that WDR seems to have taken its place in the recent Australian leg, but I'd love for them to give OWN a go at some point). The rest of the album is OK, I would probably like ILTT more if it wasn't played all the time until the THINFS tour.

While I love WLL, it probably isn't gonna make top 5 for that album.

I hated LH when it came out and I still don't like it. I was 19 back then and it was a slap in the face for me because I had hard times proving my favourite band was a rock band and they released this. I get it's not a country record but the arrangements and effort to enter the country charts because it was probably when country was really popular. Take out the violin, only add strings (as they used to), take out the other nonsense like pedal steel and make rock arrangement and I may like the album.
For example WLOL - that would be an excellent song. LH not - the guitar lick sounds too Nashville even without violin. Onthe other hand I love Put The Boy Back In Cowboy - it's tongue in cheek, funny, it rocks, hell why not. I have no problem with WGIGO, its problem as it is with Captain Crash and Sleep etc is that they play all of those non-singles live and terribly overplay them when it'd be enough to rotate them in one spot.
The second half of the album is just boring, When the individual songs might have nice atmosphere and aren't probably that bad, they don't work as an album.
I have to praise the sound as such - they sound more like a band, the record breathes if you get what I mean. And even though I couldn't stand having violin on the stage, the tour was great. The golden touring era from 2008 to 2011

So this is a song about having a dream and chasing it, till you find the Bright Lights." - Aldo Nova.
