Default Revisiting Slippery

I listened to SWW today for the first time in ages. A few things struck me about it. First of all it's kind of short, isn't it? But maybe Bounce would have been a better CD if they'd left off All About Loving You and Open All Night. Second, it doesn't sound like it's 22 years old. I sometimes listen to Hairnation which plays all of Bon Jovi's peers from the 80's and many of those songs do sound outdated. Third, Social Disease is filthy. LOL It would have been a great song for Aerosmith to record and I wish Jon and Richie had given it to them when they asked for it! Next, I find it almost incomprehensible that these guys were able to make such a fantastic album when they were so young. I'm now older than Jon, Richie, and Dave were at the time so it gives me a different perspective on what they were accomplishing at that point in their life. And, last, I can't help but admit that I find Jon's voice to be really sexy. The sigh in Let It Rock, and the enunciation of "Bad Name" and "Not tonight" in Wild in the Streets all got to me.

My CD player switched from SWW to Lost Highway and while I had time to listen only to that one song, the progression really did seem natural and fitting. Lost Highway (the song, not the album) sounds like a more mature version of that band that did SWW two decades ago. All in all, I'm glad Bon Jovi's been there to provide the soundtrack to my life. Listening to SWW brought back many memories.

its a great album imo, i just wish, borderline and the demo version of die for you made the cut. And deep cuts the knife..and edge of a broken heart. Actually there's a load of demos they could have put of for slippery.

SWW is the album that got me into Jovi, even though I first heard it in 2001. It was my first Jovi album, and I still think it's one of their best. I HATE HATE HATE Social Disease though. Probably my absolute least-favorite Jovi track. That being said, almost every other track is superb, and the record really doesn't sound that 80's dated, for the most part.

I think SWW sounds dated, but not outdated (kinda like not old, just older ). However it fits the album. Bruce did a good job, so even if it sounds 80's it also sounds like a "classic rock"-album. Ofcause, great album
80s production isn't always bad. Springsteens Tunnel Of Love has a nice 80s sound to it, and it sounds very good (Tougher Than The Rest!).

It has You Give Love A Bad Name on it, that makes the album perfect already.

The only song I truly hate on it is Without Love. I used to depise Social Disease but I love it now, good fun song.

Obviously the production sounds very dated, but it's still a very good album. I like most of the songs on it.

Personally, I love songs that sound dated sometimes. I think it's part of the reason I love 7800 so much.

Very good album, despite not being my favorite
I just like all the songs in it.
Would be fantastic to hear Jon sing Let it Rock and Social Disease again, and Without Love for the first time

Lost Highway sounds like a rock band that had their balls cut off. **** that maturity talk.
