I've listened to SWW again some time ago and it has clearly not aged as well as some of the other great albums of the 80s, including Appetite for Destruction, Back in Black, or Alice Cooper's Trash. I think it has a lot to do with the production, but also with the fact that it's not really a proper album but more of a mix of random songs. In the end, how can the same album be either called WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE or SLIPPERY WHEN WET? That just proves it. Slippery When Wet sounds like a best of. NEW JERSEY on the other hand, that is still very much in the same league with the other records that I mentioned. And I'd even say that 7800 aged better. However, Slippery will always remain a milestone. The album which gave the world some of the greatest sing-along anthems and one of the most amazing guitar solos ever. Comparing it with Lost Highway is really stretching it a bit.

SWW I think is the most listened to BJ album over time... SWW Songs are played at clubs, bars , shopping malls and people know the songs and sing along... so it cant be outdated if it has a place now... and I always think it will...

SWW IS TIMELESS

Thing about Slippery When Wet is, it has 8 fantastic songs.

Then it has 2 shocking songs(Without Love, Social Disease), which could have been replaced with demos that were 10x better.

As I've said before, SWW will always be the album they were known best for and will always be their best selling album. It contains arguably their 2 most recognized songs (Prayer & Wanted).

I think singles wize, it has aged fine. It's not nearly as complete an album as New Jersey is. I know the majority on here consider These Days to be their best record, but from start to finish, New Jersey was the most complete.

However, Slippery was their most defining record, and really, one of the most defining ever for the genre. I think many (including even die hards) forget just how huge Bon Jovi was during the Slippery era. All the backlash they've received over the years is because of how massive they were from 1986-1987.

The only thing wrong with it is that they'll never be able to write a rock song as good as it is. It's one of the best songs they've written.

As I said earlier, I used to hate Social Disease, was in my top 3 hated Bon Jovi tracks but now I love it, just a fun, rock n' rolling song.

If Without Love was replaced with Game Of The Heart it'd make Slippery When Wet a perfect album.
