I don't get how this can be interpreted as a 30 years dissatisfaction.
It's about him talking about 2 back to back 16 month touring and how he got sick of it.
It's about his life, his physical and mental health.
It's about money and fame is no longer worthwhile when you have to sacrifice that much happiness and health in your life.
And why do you think they re-paced themselves in the 90s if other members were all so satisfied from such intensive and extensive touring....
Even Jon might have the same problem back then.

Overwork causes a lot of stress. They've been so long on the road, making records .... have neglected the most important, loved ones, family.

I'm surprised it didn't lead him to consider slowing things up a bit, although that was around the time just before the release of BWC if I recall so the wheels for that project for him would have been in motion so maybe it will do now given that Richie's decision may have forced him into it.
From that interview it could well be that things are broadly the same, Richie being the free-spirit type character who needs to be co-erced by Jon to fit into the band dynamic. But Jon the boss wasn't able to this time. Although, as with all interviews clearly some pinches of salt need to be taken with regards to how both Jon & Richie view themselves.
Interesting nonetheless, thanks for the link.

Jon enjoys the privilege that many workers do not have. he can afford to have several sabbatical years dedicating for his family. Other artists done, but Jon is a workaholic, sometimes I question your happiness with family. the people around you is also important.
