Well thats the end of that then.

Some pretty classless answers from Richie and a pity the band has to end in this way.

Recently? This interview is new isn't it? Richie has been saying until now he is sure he will be back, and now it is an almost definite no.

I think he finally said what we knew all along. It's a smart business plan on both ends to say he'll be back eventually probably. It help's the band's image and it helps Richie stay in good graces with the band's fans. Maybe he slipped.

It's sad to see how bad all this shit is turning.
But that shows everyone what an ass Sambora is though. I mean, "****ing" Bon Jovi, seriously? The son of a bitch doesn't even respect the fans, that's truly sad.
I don't know what's going on backstage, but two thing are sure:
1) if I were Jon, after reading the interviews Richie has been giving over the last 6 months, the mother****er would have been fired some time ago.
2) Sambora is very bitter and all his fantasies about how hardcore or guitar oriented the last Bon Jovi albums would have been hadn't he been held back (we just need to listen to AOTL to be convinced, LOL) tend to prove the guy's gone completely nuts.

I think with his solo albums Richie focussed more on being a lead singer than recording a full blown guitar record. And saying this, songs like Burn that candle down, Nowadays, Sugar daddy or Learning how to fly with a broken wing got more guitars in them than the last 3 Bon Jovi albums together.

I am a Richie fan and I don't like the way he's talking about the past either. But when we put away all emotions and all the camp-Jon / camp-Richie kind of crap and simply have a look at the pure content, than he's saying exactly what all fans are complaining about for the last 7 years:
- the band's touring too much
- the albums are recorded and produced too fast, they should have taken more time to work on the songs
- they should return to their rock roots instead of feeding us with simple pop-songs for the masses

And that's the truth. But as long as their tours are the biggest in the world I believe Jon doesn't see that, even if Richie talks to him behind closed doors (just my opinion).
Nonetheless, Richie shouldn't do their laundry in public.

Spot on - this actually sums the situation up very well!

This is a great overview of the situation. I actually don't mind Richie speaking his mind and I didn't mind the "f****ing" Bon Jovi" remark either given as we have discussed before how the band members routinely drop swear words left and right in their regular speech without meaning them as an insult. The closed door policy / confidentiality agreements that Jon has on everyone is fine but there are some things that maybe fans DO have the right to know.

This.

And if doing the laundry in public is the only way to make Jon react, then that's the way to go. I don't think Richie was right by levaing mid-tour, but his reasoning seems sound enough to me.
