Getting back to the topic....

I think Richie is a composer that always needs someone to push him and encorage him. Proof is all the tracks on his solo records were credited of him and somebody else. But that doesn't make him any worse than jon - overall i prefer Richie's solo albums than jon's. I think he can turn an average scratch of a song into something real good. I'm sure tracks like dry county, bed of roses or always that came out of Jon's head, were significantly improved by Richie's touch.

Jon is more like a solo composer. He can do all alone a great song, but it seems to me that there's always something missing. For example, Santa Fe, which is my fav jon solo track, doesn't have a guitar solo as good as it could have.

Above all I think Jon and Richie complete each other and while apart they have some faults, together they're much better than the sum of their 2 talents.

Which he did. I am sure that I don't assume too much when I say that his example was clearly about subjective taste - NOT vitamins.
You, of course, had to dissect his words again for the mere sake of causing great stir.

Well, Axl Rose's new GnR album takes 2000 years to complete still I consider him a songwriting genius.
Ahhh..low blow. Axl has all sorts of other issues though, but I still love him.

It was clearly about subjective taste for you, to me it was something else. Don't speak for all people. You always seem to know very well how all people think when posting a message to prove me how wrong I am, but you should consider that it might be your way of thinking only instead of the one for all people.

So many of their songs have great stuff going on but get dragged down by cliches and transparent hooks. Richie seems to be the most of "the kids'll love it" mentality based on past comments.

I'm basing this on the lack of this when Jon writes solo. Even when you consider something like Janie Don't Take Your Love To Town...the title is bad....but the lyrics aren't. He just seems to be the most progressive out of the two. It's when you put the two together..progressive (Jon) with old school (Richie) that you get the overall Bon Jovi sound. But in this day and age....I really think the old school element should be toned down..at least lyrically. It works well musically, but it's a liability lyrically that can induce the gag reflex.
I agree with you, especially on "Undiscovered soul" and it's also true we haven't enaugh stuff to compare their songwriting.
I love Richie's voice but I do prefer Jon's solo records.
Before "the new BJ studio album" news came out I was hoping for a new solo record from both of them...I thought after Crush and Bounce they needed more time to make the point. I was wrong.
I hope they have a GREAT new album....

And what exactly are you doing? You tell others their examples suck big time because you read them different.
On the one hand you accuse him of not having an opinion, but once he does you put it down. I do not say your thinking is wrong, the way you treat people is - in my opinion if you wish.
And it WAS clear that his example was about what one prefers, not what is more healthy.

It's futile to continue to attempt to make SuperSonic understand.
He sees his opinions as his reality, ergo he believes they are truth and that there is one truth - all who oppose are either stupid or Jon-lovers.
It may be HIS reality, but not everyone's.
His opinion and his reality doesn't make something fact or truth.
No way to argue otherwise.

Yes Derek, we know by know how you feel. But still, I need to read a reply from you in which you explain why you disagree with me that much. So instead of putting all your effort in writing those essays about how wrong I am and how sad I am you could just, for a start, write something about the topic itself, instead of your SuperSonic bash posts.

Sebastiaan

Why? So you could tell him again how his opinions make no sense at all, only yours do?

I've never said an opinion doesn't make sense.
