Default Richie mic question

has anyone ever noticed that thing on Richie's mic that is about the size of a large pager? what is it? i was watching the Washington 2003 VCD and you can see it very clearly on it. there doesn't seem to be any cords running in or out of it. the only thing i could think of that it could be was a guitar tuner, but without cords i dont' know how it would work. and if he had one at all it would probably be in his pedals. anybody have any info?

Does it appear on any other footage? Hyde Park? I'll have a look myself but I can't say I've ever noticed anything like that before. Dunno what it could be.

No I have never noticed anything like that either. It could be an equaliser though which lights up and shows the strength of the audio signals at various frequency bands.

i've seen it on several different pictures/videos of richie. i'll try to find a picture or something.

why would he want an equalizer on his microphone directly in front of him?

So he can make sure the sound volumes are right. I.e. Certain tracks may require more bass for example, although soundchecks are generally made before the gig.

as far as I can think it's either his talk box or plectrum holder.

There's no particular need or use for an EQ on his mic stand because it will already be set and no need for a tuner because someone else tunes his guitars.

its not his talkbox because he uses a different mic when he uses the talkbox. and its not a pick holder either. thats further down on his mic stand.
