AFAIK Richie doesn't write any lyrics in BJ, which is why Jon ALWAYS gets writing credits. I guess the same story goes for US, where Richie even thanks Richie Supa for "helping find myself in the songs". And looking at SITT, the most flat lyrics were all written by Richie himself without help. I guess that's the weak spot of Richie the songwriter.

Ridiculous.....I don't remember them being a disaster at all. This whole discussion is just absurd. 22 years, OVER 100 Million albums sold, Sold out stadiums all over the country for an album that supposedly sucks.....lol. I think Jon AND Richie both know what they're doing! 85% Jons fault......Ridiculous. If you hate Jon so much why don't you stop complaining and find another band to listen to.

let's wait for richie's solo album and then we'll see if jon's mainly to blame.
Yeah I was gonna say the same. It's just that complex guitar work and extensive solos aren't popular these days and Bon Jovi have always wanted to appeal to the mainstream. It annoys me sometimes because since 2000 Bon Jovi have just been going more and more boyband like.

Being a boyband at 40+ isn't that easy, mind you.

I'm the quarterback. Anyone remember that comment? It's ridiculous to suggest that they have 50% control, it's Jons band. When the band started out I seem to remember Jon was signed as a solo artist and the rest were hired hands.

After saying that I would not blame Jon for Richie's reluctance to play a decent solo although I do think the HAND solo is quite a good Prayer style solo. He doesn't exactly go wild on his solo albums guitarwise either although seeing him solo live is a different matter. I do think it's a conscious decision to shy away from metal and guitar histrionics and fit in with more poppy bands like Green Day and Avril Lavigne. I'm hoping live we might see a little more from him in the new songs but I haven't heard if any solo's have been extended as in KTF or IBTFY.

All in all he's an amazing guitar player and it's a shame he's decided against some of those classic melodic solo's we used to get. Imagine they released Wanted today without that solo and we got a Bells Of Freedom style solo instead. I just wouldn't love that song the same way.

Finally that point about Jon sounding shit live on Crush tour and subsequent ones. I agree he didn't sound great on the Bounce tour but just watch the VH1 OWN show from Giants Stadium, I think he sound's great on that. It's one of my favourite ever versions of KTF. I thought the OWN tour was excellent unlike the album it was there to promote.

I think Jon didn't sound that bad during those tours, of course his voice didn't reach all the high notes but he pulled it of decently.

The bootleg from his birthday is really good, and Jon sounds very strong, even on songs such as In these arms.

Regarding Richie, he as many before me has pointed out, a grown man, he does what he wants to do. But then again, i guess Jon can be very bossy sometimes.
