Man, man, man, what a fuzz about Richie saying 'that'.
Can't he make a mistake in an interview?
He didn't participate in the gig,had other stuff on his mind, so of course he didn't care so much about it as a show where he would play.

There are really no bands out there than can put out as good of an album or as good of a show as Iron Maiden. So yeah, you're getting a great deal there! Enjoy the show, they are awesome live!

Up The Irons!!!
You forgot the part about respecting the fans !! There's no year in Brazil without some Iron Maiden sold-out stadium concerts....lol..........

There's a difference in making a mistake in an interview and downright disrespecting his fans the way he did in that interview, if he would have said he was drunk out of his mind, was high and couln't even stand up straight, was ready to slit his wrists, then it would have been 'easily rectifiable' or whatever the shit. But when the truth is that he cheked into rehab the day before the show, and was released the weekend after which seemed funny to start with, and this comment it all just comes together.

And if you're suggesting he didn't have a clue about what the show was then he is just showing how much of a tool he really is.

You don't think it's possible he was told it was just a corporate gig? He said he would have shown up otherwise... maybe they made up some bullshit so he'd go get himself fixed up.

Nope, they're bussiness men, middle aged bussiness men running a multimillion dollar franchise, not some ****ing 16 year old with a pot problem.

Doesn't matter, the gig was announced two months ahead of time, that's really not an excuse or a way to justify his ignorance.

Ok, there is no excuse for Richie's words, even though he's just trying to make that situation more acceptable for him - you know the fact that he missed a BJ gig and it's much easier for him to miss "a corporate gig" than "a real concert where people had paid money". That's the situation don't take it too personal. Also a few words about IM. Enjoy the show, they are great live, I've seen them on X Factor, Ed Hunter, Brave New World tours and also I had the chance to see them twice this year. Well, on X Factor Blaze sucked, but that clown Mr.Gers actually played guitar on this one(something I can't say about the other shows I've seen - I don't count a few licks here and there) , the EH show was great with Aces High as opener, also it was the first time when I saw the band with Bruce and Adrian. In my opinion the show from BNW tour was the best of all, great energy, fantastic setlist and great performances, oh I forgot we had the chance to see the famous "Janic's dive" Anyway I missed the next show from the tour because of that "dive" and when we talk about respecting the fans here's an example that not everything is about the respect, it's about the money, they did all the dates except the other date I had a ticket, because if they wanted to come back and do that show on a new date, they had to come all the way from South America to Europe for just one show - too expensive and of course they didn't! Аnyway I got my money back, but that's not the most important thing, when we talk about respecting the fans. Anyway, enjoy the show, Adrian is on fire this tour(Dave was the man on TXF, ED and BNW), also if you're really lucky you can see Janick doing a solo or two. I won't comment Bruce(he's singing better than ever), Steve and Nicko - these guys know how to rock.

As myguitar said: Up the Irons!!!

If you think about it, it basiclly means Richie has confused himself/was misinformed or even misquoted as he contradicts himself in what he says.
He makes the distinction between the 'real gigs with real fans' and 'corprate gigs', but then states that the gig he missed to be a corprate gig when it wasn't - He wouldnt plain out lie in an interview like that and try to cover his tracks, so it must have been what he was told and thus is a simple error on his part, and well, at the time I'm sure he would have been told and accepted anything in his current state.

I'm not just trying to protect him, as even if it was Jon that had said it I would have still believed it to be due to a genuine mistake. The band are often insulated from alot of the goings on to do with innerworkings of a tour etc, they rely on their PR people to keep them in the loop, hence Jon stating several times of the 'sold out' status of the 10 nights at the Rock, when it wasnt actually true, but more then likely what his 'people' had informed him.

On a slightly different note, I've been at a gig when the frontman has greeted the crowd with a ''Hello Glasgow!'' when the gig was actually in Belfast. My point being, sometimes all a bands job is is to turn up and play the gig, and so theres a chance that they are not always aware of everything.

Not Bon Jovi, Jon is hands on with everything, the show was officially annouced on April, so Richie was drunk and high for two straight months of not being concious?? WTF???

The thing about bands getting places and venues mixed up is natural, it has nothing to do with how involved they are with routing the tour or playing a certain show, just how up to date they are on things.
I(t's not like they had a tight schedulke at the time, the whole things just ****ed up.
all bands lie, all celebrities lie, Richie's no different.
