I just don't think Richie has a great album left in him. People forget that the RSO project was released just 2 years ago and was also produced by Bob Rock. I know we're not talking numbers, but to me, that album was just as much of a flop artistically, as it was commercially. Aftermath wasn't much better either.
Producers don't write songs, they just play around with the material they have. But much like coaches in major sports, they are drivers of fan expectation and are given way too much credit/blame for things.
Is it realistic to expect that Richie will all of a sudden start writing amazing songs just because Orianthi has left the picture?
Since people will naturally compare them, I expect the Richie's new album and Bon Jovi 2020 to be a race to the bottom.

I tend to disagree there
I love Aftermath era, maybe it's because it was a great time personally but anyway, there are a few outstanding songs for me (Seven Years Gone, You Can Only Get So High) and many songs I enjoy and only one or two I don't need to listen to.
The RSO project was terrible in the end. I don't Ori's personality and I can't stand her voice. Kudos to her for the live shows because she kept it together during the times Richie was, let's say "unfocused"
but he got his sh*t together as it seems. Plus I think his potential ca be heard in his Richie-only songs. I even liked a few of the shared one. Actually I quite enjoy the album from time to time. Surprisingly I like the variaty of styles. It's nothing to write home about. Overall the project was bad, given the way they were releasing the material, the quality of the shows etc.
So I hope that Richie has found the passion in him and he'll show us what's left of him musically.
