Well, if JBJ is performing solo, it's some private gigs, usually charity or sponsored ones. Can't really compare it to the band as it is and I don't understand how some people say he does better than Richie. Like seriously, what are the criteria? The band is something entirely different. People actually expect Dave and Tico to be there and they expect certain hit songs to be played.

Personally, I think both Jon's and Richie's solo stuff is superb and I go back to their catalogue more often than to BJ post-2000 one...

Singers tend to do better as solo artists than others of the band because their voice is already tried & true for many listeners. Notice how Slash has the singer of Alter Bridge for his solo work.

However, the one thing that solo artists lack either way is the brand recognition of the band name. There's a reason you've had multiple band members tour with their "own version" of the original act, and fight in court over who gets to use the name. Tommy Thayer used to play in a Kiss tribute band - I bet they didn't do the numbers he gets in Kiss now....

Although Jon is one of the few exceptions here as his band name is included in his solo name....so he is instantly recognisable.

Having said that, obviously the Blaze single did well, but I suppose that that's his only true worldwide solo hit. Destination Anywhere did pretty well in the UK/Europe, but not as well as the band stuff...

Manic st preachers said the first thing they found out about releasing solo albums is that they don’t sell as well as band albums.

First you don't like his behavior and when this discussion is done you come up that Richie is an alcoholic/drug addict which is clearly not the case only because you want to bash Richie.

I only read this forum because it is an easy way to stay up do date what happens in the in Jovi camp and I have absolutely no interest in your long discussions about nothing.

Nevertheless I reply because this is such a ridiculous general statement which puts on blame every human in the world who deals problems with addiction.

Many people who get into addiction where maybe sexually abused and have to deal with big setbacks in their lives. Nobody wants to be a drug addict. I would be very careful to make such a statement when you don't know what every individual went through.

To Richie. Just because someone likes to have a drink he is not an alcoholic. You have zero evidence that Richie is an drug addict but bring this up. I have no idea why you do that but like your statements before there is only one person who agrees with you and I hope that you can discuss this per private message because nobody has an interest in reading you bashing Richie as an drug addict just because you saw a video where he was joking around.
