With that meddling Jon out of the picture, Richie has been releasing modern day equivalents of all those classic Bon Jovi tunes, right?

Nope. I'm saying that the woman whose prefered type was a member of Mötley Crüe probably didn't marry a guy who was overtly "respectable" and all that serious. Plus, Richie THEN was with the girl who had been married to Charlie Sheen before!

(I'm treating this as a separate post because I see no connection between Richie's music and the question of how mature he is or isn't, just because he married Heather Locklear.)

I don't want to put words in your mouth, so again, just to clarify: You obviously don't care for the music Richie did with RSO; yet solely on the basis of this recent collaborative effort (about which I still say Richie showed little to no passion), you have now concluded: 1) that people are wrong when they assume Richie's a deep bluesy soul, based on three solo projects, spanning 21 years (projects which he obviously was passionate about), 2) that people also must be wrong if they thought he wrote Bon Jovi hits/music, and 3) Jon is probably responsible even for stuff that sounds mostly like Richie.

Here's my question: How are we supposed to even define what sounds like Richie, since it seems you have determined that his work over the last 6 years supersedes, or effectively obliterates, everything he did during the 30 years or so prior to that? I mean, if you aren't going by SITT, US, and AOTL, what is your criteria for determining what "sounds mostly like Richie" that you now think Jon should be credited for?

Recently, Yovana shared Water into Wine (in these arms demo) with Jon and David writing. You only have to compare it to the version of the album that included Richie in the re-writing. I think contributions are obvious.

Without Richie I think no "Wanted" , and probably Living On A prayer, Lay Your Hands on Me and Ill Be There For You would not be the same.

With respect to the songs that Jon wrote, imagine Dry County with a duration of 4 minutes and a single standard. Imagine any guitarist in the album These Days ... I'm sure it would be a very different thing.

The stuff he did recently (including AMOTLD) sounded more like post 2k Bon Jovi than it did like Stranger in this Town. His whole stick (or was it his fans?) of "Jon wanted the music to sound that way" kinda shattered due to this. Just like BJ's music continued to sound like BJ - it hadn't been "been all Richie secretly all along" which some people had been assuming before.

Sure, but just like Jon doesn't sing (or write) like he did in '93 anymore, it's not like Richie still wrote like he did back then either and was just held back by Jon post 2k.

Ok. But I was referring to the point of view that was launched earlier, where some were implying that Richie's contributions in the past were not great things, because at present everything still sounds the same after Richie's departure. That's why I put that example, Richie had some great ideas that made the difference.

Jon is better with Richie, and Richie is better with Jon. It's time for Jon swallow his pride and to do what is best for the band.

(Don't bother telling me to get over it and move on. I will never give up hope that one day Richie will be back where he belongs.)
