But that's totally beside the point of you equating people's comments to the fact that you're not an addict/alcoholic.
What you say about Jon and Richie may be true (although I can't see how you would know that, for a fact, unless both Jon and Richie told you that was the case); but it still wouldn't validate your claim that there's no excuse for addiction.
