Thinny asked how music can create a buzz if no one knows about it. He said the biggest mistake an artist can make is to rely on social media to create a buzz and that many artists underestimate the importance of old school promotional methods.

No one knew about Beyonce's album dropping. She did no promo. It spread on social media like wildfire and sold over half a million digital copies in three days. I wasn't comparing RSO to Beyoncé FFS. It was just an example of an artist who successfully did what Thinny said can't/shouldn't be done.

And with that, I'm throwing in the towel. It's exhausting to have to break things down to the lowest common denominator because points (that are really not that complicated) go flying over people's heads. This isn't the first time, but it's definitely the last. I just can't stomach this forum anymore. Too much stupidity running amuck.

You're just not getting it. I was talking about a new artist, not an established artist that had already sold millions of records, as I explained in my initial reply if you care to read it properly...

An artist with an existing fan base can do that. A new project, with essentially no fan base, apart from a few cross over fans cannot do that. End of. It's really not complicated....
