Richie's? Looks like it doesn't it? Such bad planning on his part to not have the album ready to go as soon as he came off that show. Or at least a song. He had a few days of solid press coverage in the UK and a little beyond. Maybe he literally did just do it for fun and not even with an eye on promoting anything. The most headlines he received were obviously what he said about Bon Jovi.

Richie has such a strange career and plan, I have no idea what he is doing anymore. There will be no surprise if his song doesn't release next month.

How you can sing lines like

Exile
Exile
I'm taking back my name
I'm taking back my name

Buddy, make a name for yourself then. You can do it.

A couple of days here and there and more when in a nice city. I am not here pretending it would give Jon back his voice but it is a fact that rest would help maintain it, if they were to tour. Also for Thinny I understand the cost issue. Not really sure if it is a thing with Jon at this point though. If he wants to tour it is not to make most money out of it - as much as I know that he does love money. Obviously this would mean less dates too.

And finally while they did rest for a long time between tours and Jon's voice only got worse for it, I don't think that is the same issue. If he can't sing he can't and nothing will fix it. However, I would say he still can but not at nearly at the volume or range that he used to. It is what it is. If he wants to tour he needs to work around it and try to maintain whatever there is left. If we want to have a tour we need to take it as it is.

I am still saying that three random dudes with standing mics is not too much of an anomaly that the crowd can't handle them far left on the stage. It is very very far from ideal. But see the paragraph above.

I just want another tour. Maybe I am grasping for straws and maybe I am being desperate. I'll go and see them every time they come to Europe no matter what.

The more I listen to Jon speaking voice, the more I realize that he is never going to be able to tour again.

Maybe the best they can do is pick a handful of major cities and hopefully do a stadium run of 5 to 8 shows. Jon will have to pull out every trick in the book, including giving Richie and Dave a song. Even a horn section and some female singers as well. Jon will definitely have to mime some verses too.

If Richie gets back in the band and with a good opening act, they might be able to pull it off but Jon doing a couple month run is never going to happen.

There is nothing that could bring his voice back at this point. It's gone. Plus his whole pacing is off and slowed.

It's a real shame.

Yes, desperate and delusional. You want to see this band despite being fully aware the worst night 10 years ago will be one of the best with whatever Jon's got left. Why?

A tour needs to make money. Jon Bon Jovi won't do it for free nor will the rest of the band. An entire crew having 3+ off days just so the singer can recover whatever's left of his voice is ridiculously expensive, especially considering the venues Bon Jovi think they ought to be playing. And Bon Jovi do not have the worldwide following that's willing to pay money like people are paying money to see U2, Madonna and the Stones.

You're saying he needs to maintain whatever is left but there's really nothing in the tank anymore. Just because he hits the occasional higher note in the right pitch doesn't mean he's singing and I ought to think that even an untrained ear is able to hear he dodges notes left and right. Jon won't get his voice back after 3 days of rest because he didn't have much to begin with. On the past North American run he was blowing it out 3 songs into every show and he'll only damage it further on consecutive nights up to a point where he'll need to cancel one, if not more dates.

Everything you mentioned in your post is essentially an explanation as to why they shouldn't do it.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The thing is - I'd still go. It's worth it for me. I understand you from point to point but what is the alternative? There is none. Like rdkopper said - pull every trick in the book and make a tour reality and, I will go see them fully knowing what I am paying for.

The alternative to seeing Bon Jovi is exactly what Bon Jovi is doing nowadays. They are the alternative, and the alternative they're offering is terrible. It's not like you're seeing the actual band you grew up with and became a fan off.

Bounce, the German tribute act, is a better live band than Bon Jovi are. Sure, maybe they're not as tight but they get a lot closer to the Bon Jovi sound than Bon Jovi do nowdays. The singer sounds closer to Jon Bon Jovi does than Jon Bon Jovi himself.

I've never understood the desire to go see an act play all while you know they're not offering what you wish they'd do. It's as if you insist on buying tickets for a match during which you know your favourite team will lose because of the team captain messing up.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Again I can't argue with that, other than I have no idea of Bon Jovi cover bands but I will take your word for it. I'd still go see the original as ragged as they are.

BTW with there is no alternative I meant that it is either whatever the band can offer and Jon can't sing anymore -version or no gig at all so, literally no alternative. Easy choice for me. But yeah. I am nostalgic, I know. I can fill in the missing notes in my head. We just see the whole thing from a completely different perspective. Which is fine.

Manchester United under Ole/Ralf over the last two seasons with Maguire as captain.

I wouldn't go to see Bon Jovi unless it was as a favor to someone (like I did for the This House tour). The quality has been poor for 20 years, and I include the 2008-2011 run that people seem to think was good. However, people have legitimate reasons for wanting to go. Perhaps never seeing Richie live with Bon Jovi would be one of them.

I do agree that everything being described - including most of the last 10 pages - are reasons why it shouldn't happen. Even if the tour does happen, I won't pay to see it, but some (many) people would. It's amazing to me that people would go and even say they had or good time, or it wasn't that bad. Madness, but that's how it is for some fans. Each to their own.
