If this community is meant to be an insular community where newer users arent welcome to have convos, I’ll go elsewhere, obviously you all have a lot of history. I have watched many Jon/richie interviews and haven’t seen it.

Then I apologize for taking it the wrong way. It felt like you were building a narrative that because you hadn't seen it personally it didn't exist. For years they both spoke very highly of each other and what they brought to the fold.
"And I can find far more petty and dismissive comments that he made about Richie while Richie was still with the band over the years. I just find it hard to believe that post 1996, that they were anything but work/situational friends, from the outside, just doesn’t feel like JBJ had much respect for him." felt far more like an attack than it did "hey are there any nice things Jon has ever said about Richie" ya know?
If you want me to find interviews proving the contrary, I can but I can assure you the "cracks in the relationship" weren't as evident in the years leading up to it as far as press goes. Up until 2005, Jon really hammered home how important it was the band was together for recording and how if any of them weren't there it wouldn't sound the same. There's a really good 2002 Metal Edge interview about how they used a session drummer for some of the Bounce demos and had to scrap them because without Tico, it wasn't them.
