You're completely missing the point, but Ok....

I agree, but he clearly must be counting the new one and RSO....the way that the whole RSO album was handled is identical to how this new one is being handled, Bob Rock produced too, so I think he is including that as one of his solo releases, right or wrong. God knows, Ori has managed to release 2 solo albums since then, so you have to think that he took charge of that project.

I guess Richie is also counting the records he made with his ex-partners... Orianthi and Nikki Lund. It's sad that even Nikki has released more music than Richie in the last 5 years.
haha I expect he's trying to forget about the Nikki Lund project as much as the rest of us. Was anything actually ever officially released for that anyways? I couldn't call it an album by any strecth of the imagination...

They all do it - just ask Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx and Joe Elliott. It's not a big deal. It's part of the PR Bullshit machine. No one except the superfans here will know that it's not true. No one is going to fact check this stuff. No one outside of these kind of fan groups cares enough...
It even has a name - show business. It always amazes me when fans on this site in particular, for some reason, actually think that irrelevant PR-banter holds some golden nuggets of truth about things that took place 20 years ago. Even when it is clear that practicalle all the stars just say whatever springs to mind at the time or, at best, whatever makes them look good.

Technically it may be lying, but who cares.

I promise promise promise the things that set people off here wouldn't even be a drop of an annoyance to the casual fan. No one is turning into the Sirius channel and yelling at his wife "I COULD HAVE FOUND THIS ON YOUTUBE".

The sooner you figure out how to disconnect and learn to love the music and the memories and realize we're not part of the band's vision and haven't been for a long time, I swear it gets easier. I was all riled up years too though, I get it.

I am a Manchester United fan and have just watched as the team getting slapped about 7-0 by Liverpool. But if I could just disconnect and love the football and the memories it will get easier. Doesn't work like that though, does it?

We are here on this forum because we are not casual fans. If we didn't care we wouldn't be here. Now, to what level we care and what does it actually mean "to care" depends on the person. I could be wrong, but I presume no one is getting "riled up".

My personal situation is I see something here I feel like responding to, and I respond to it. Once I do, I barely give any of it a second thought and certainly do not ponder Bon Jovi in my day to day life. Yet, when I come back here I may see something else and respond to it. I guess most people are doing the exact same thing.

I suppose trying to gatekeep it and suggest everyone should just think of the glory days is one way of approaching it. I prefer the discussion personally, which is why I come to a forum.

To a point, I agree but...to put this nicely...there are users on the board that think what want for the band and think everyone cares as much as we do. I'm not looking to gatekeep discussion, in fact I wish there was more discussion! My comments weren't intended to be a pointing finger at you or a lot of this board. But sometimes when you see people asking how they can contact the Better Business Bureau or tell their credit card they bought something fraudulent / kept thinking the things they are interested are what matters, it's very tough to take seriously.

It's hard to see the band fail and make so many missteps over and over again but I also can see why they're ignoring the diehards and pandering to the audience that will take cheaply made scarves and smile. We are so few in numbers, it makes me sad.

I really don't know where I'm going with this. I love this band so much and there's no easy way to say "I stopped accepting there's something great from them around the corner for me". Maybe i've just checked out. I'll get few songs per album I know I'll love forever but that's about it.

If anything, the way we act can be so gatekeepy. The band putting out a channel that plays concerts people might not know about has been trashed up and down because we already have this stuff, how dare they. It's lazy as hell but man, if I was a new fan and didn't obsessively know every show that's on youtube, why aren't we more gung-ho for that stuff? If it leads to new fans in it for specifically the music and how good the band is live, that's a win.

I agree with everything you wrote. Certainly I am as guilty as any fan of projecting or gatekeeping. It may be fair to say diehards represent both the best and worst of a fanbase. That's not me letting Bon Jovi or Richie off the hook, but I admit I definatley sometimes think "this is what I want".

For example, I will rag on Richie for the management of his career. Of course, there is some element of reality in the criticism but at the same time there must be many reasons for X, Y, and Z that we don't know about.

Although, for the most part the discussion over the last few weeks as been respectful even with differences of opinion. And to other posters, even if there are disagreements I learn or take something on board from most the interactions. And at the end of the day, we're talking about bloody Bon Jovi, so hardly the be all and end all is it.

Yeah, completely agreed. End of the day, we want to the band to do well and everyone to see them like we do.

Listened to the whole Richie interview on Spotify...
quite enjoy it, especially the finale where the interviewer talked about Richies kindness ...
Regarding the 5 solo albums i m sure he meant Rso and the latest with Bob rock which is ready...richie exagerates all the time but on this case i think he just wanted to show hiw work outside of th band...that he has a big body of work...no harm in that imo..

IMO the interview left a sweet taste regarding Richie..He mentioned 3-4 times he will be back with Bj.. not with absolute certainty but its clear it is what he wishes and there have been talks about..he was less cocky than i thought and mentioned jon 2-3 times. The 2 of them that he was pissed about the writing session of loap with desmond, where Richie was late and jon pissed...and about the hof induction and the way the academy snobbed the band the previous years...
He didnt mention it in a negative way, more in a focus driven way abou jon..
not sth we dont already know.

Anyway Richie and jon are songwriters above all, especially at this point of their career and as i have said before only if they sit and write a couple of songs will they reconcille trully
