The article says:

"Sambora kicked of his European tour in a sold out Melkweg in Amsterdam. "It's a great venue and it was packed", he says. "I don't want to deprive American audiences, but European audiences pay more attention. They really pay attention to the voices and art in general".

]It's gotta suck to have tickets for an artist who doesn't think much of you in the first place though. But mostly I really wonder why he even bothers to tour there. The crowds in Amsterdam, Germany and most likely London as well, will without a doubt be miles better than those in New Yank City (see what I did there?) and the likes. So why even bother? I'm not saying American fans of Jovitalk don't deserve a show but from his point of view I really don't get it.
Simple: New York is a good place to have one of those fan club shows and we all know the $$$$. It's the same reason Bon Jovi still tours here. Easy cash and the demand is still there for the most part. Simple economics.

Richie's American shows have not sold as well as he thought they would and rightfully so. The problem is all these biddies who claim to be a fan of the band but won't pay to see a Richie solo show but will pay exorbitant amounts of money to see a Jon solo show...but they're fans of the band...bullshit.

Also, I don't understand why he did not do more shows in Europe since his gear is already there. Granted, he could probably play more of a world tour but I'm not sure it would be worth the cost and how much money Richie is willing to loose to be artistically fulfilled.
