Bon Jovi will always be one of those bands with loads of secret fans, music fans that have Slippery but hide it when mates come around. All these people saying he sucks have SWW, NJ etc, and if they don't they don’t really have the right to say he’s crap.

If Richie belonged to one of the bands that fitted with the metal image, Metallica etc, you'd find a lot more people who would admit to liking him. I've always considered Richie to be a quality all round guitarist. He has the ability to play like some of the highly rated guitarists such as Slash even if he isn't as good as people make out), Eddie Van Halen but Bon Jovi don't play that sort of music.

It's all right, we know Richie rocks anyway.

[quote="Jim Bon Jovi"]a few points to consider: metal fans are genereally the most narrow minded music fans around, anything that doesn't fit into their little niche is automatically crap.

I agree about that... Sure some of these metal bands are good and all but I've never understood how some of these metal fans can ONLY want to listen to aggressive guitars and drums all day. I mean, you could put all their favourite bands together and there isn't really much difference in sound and style a lot of the time. Not just from different songs, but from different albums and different bands.

How can you compare these guys as musicians when they all sound the same and all they do it beat the crap out of their instruments trying to sound more aggressive than anyone else(in a lot of cases)?

Speaking of Slash, I bet if he didn't look the way he did and didn't have that attitude about him, he wouldn't be as popular.

bryan adams and even springsteen don't have really really difficult guitar parts but they evoke more emotion and enjoyment listening to them than some metal head wank stain soloing fast for 10 minutes.

We all know Richie can play anyway. He'd be in my top 20 of all time.

2: technical ability doesn't always negate goodness. bands like the goo goo dolls, bryan adams and even springsteen don't have really really difficult guitar parts but they evoke more emotion and enjoyment listening to them than some metal head wank stain soloing fast for 10 minutes.
Oh C'mon Man!
Let's Say The Truth, John Rzeznik cannot be such a GREAT guitar player but he do he's job so well, he's so creative, his melodies are awesome!
And about Keith Scott, he knows a lot about guitar, he plays over 20 yrs, he ROCKS!
