Default Richie's guitars

Hi everyone
I am new here so if this question has been asked before i am sorry but could anyone tell me what the make of the guitar Richie is using I know he uses Floyd Rose Guitars as well as the occasional Fender but when I saw him at Coventry he was using ones with a Black and white coloured headstock there are some pictures of him using it on this message board.

Any help is very appreciated

thanks

Bret

hi, I think that it could be his own brand of guitar. he has been known to design and make his own guitars. it deffinately has "sambora" on the headstock though. he has a white one too with the floyd rose and also a white version with a hardtail bridge.

hope i could help a bit.

well i saw him playin a guitar which had a big S on the headstock ... but it was not samick .. cuz .. samick's have S with a circle ... ... .. one tht richie was playing had an S only S without any boundries.. so i think tht is his own brand !....and moreover he once said ... he loved some of the unbranded guitars .. korean made...

he's been rocking out on a REALLY nice les paul on this tour.

so has jon come to think of it.

he's got the 52 tele he uses on saturday night too

im pretty sure that ugly monstrosity of a white thing he's playing just now is custom made for him.

you not a fan of the floyd rose axe? i think the strat style Fr IS wicked, i'm not sure about the one he's graffiti'd. the new things with the pearloid scratchplates and headstock are horrible. they sound awful too. he used a red one on a dvd bootleg i've got and david had to double him on keyboards for it's my life and it sounded shite. he should go back to the strats. i've got a poor mans replica of the gold strat he used. just keeping my fingers crossed that somebody will sell one of the necks with the small stars on ebay to really top it off. what ever happened with his deal with gibson anyway?

i meant the big ugly ****ers he's playing just now.

the floyd rose one he played on the bounce tour was pretty cool.

check out warmoth.com or usa custom guitars website if you're looking for a neck with stars. i'm not sure if they do the pearl with black border (i know warmoth used to not) but it's worth a shot and cheaper than fender.

i've had a look at warmoth bgut they only do big stars that don't look as good as on the old sambora strat. i'll have a look at the other site though. thanks for the tip off. The new guitar sreally are horrible aren't they. he took some gorgeous guitars out with him on the crush/one wild night tour, but since he left fender it's all gone tits up. Anyone know what pick up richie uses in the neck of his gold strat? i've got a dimarzio fast track in at the moment but it hasn't got enough balls. could it be the chopper or cruiser?

if you're going for the crush tour sound as well as look i'm pretty sure it was fender hot vintage pickups and texas specials he had in the guitars.

the cherryburst strat from ktf/ these days era was a dimarzio PAF pro (humbucker) in the bridge.

Yeah i've got a paf in the bridge but in the gold one he changed them from the hot to some hotrails. I've seen a picture from fender when they were ready to release the new strat and eventhe gold one had the noiseless vintage pups in but i guess richie decided on something different. i wish the gold strat was released, i would pya big bucks for one of those babies. I'm always on the lookout for a cherry sunburst version with the floyd rose as well so if anyone is daft enough to want to part with it drop me a line. btw jim i've contacted warmoth to see if they can do a neck with small stars all the way down so fingers crossed they can.

I contacted warmoth recently to ask them about a custom doubleneck strat with flame AAA maple top in cherryburst so that I can build the LYHOM axe Richie used on the These Days and Crossroad Tours (Live From London vid).

Very expensive quote - something like £600 for the body alone but they are a really friendly bunch and offer a fair amount of flexibility with their custom orders.

Let me know if they can do them cos I'd be interested to know for the doubleneck project (although I'd obviously be after the big stars).

I think the pups in the strats he used on the OWN tour (the gold and the white with tortoiseshell scratchplate) had Seymour Duncan Hotrails in the neck and middle positions.

I, to the horror of most collectors, committed the ultimate sacrilage by installing two Duncan Hotrails in the same positions in my Black Paisley Sambora strat. It looks and sounds so much better now that I did though! I'm tempted to get rid of the naff (rather rust stained) licensed Floyd Rose Bridge and replace it with a Black Original Floyd Rose trem but can't decide whether a chrome one might actually look better on it.

Decisions, decisions!
