I would love to believe this, that the 'brotherhood' the band speaks about so much holds up. But then I see Jon on those business shows boasting about how he's a CEO, and I begin to fear that his ego could get the better of the situation here. Jon has said before "we (Richie and him) can survive without eachother." Obviously he's a dope if he thinks Bon Jovi can go on without Sambora (can you imagine Bobby B writing guitar solos? Or worse, Jon himself?), which sadly means it might happen.

Let's just hope Sambora can rebound quick.

If Richie doesn't get his addiction under control I truly believe Jon will get to a point where he's had enough and he'll replace him just as he replaced Alec. (and I hate to even think about this )

It's WAY too early to be talking about the band being over or Richie being replaced. Don't forget that Tico also went through rehab in 1990 and he's still in the band because he got his act together.

If they have to keep some obligations for public appearances and hire a replacement for those shows, it's not the end of the world. Better that Richie put his own health and needs first and let the band take care of what they have to take care of. The "timing" isn't something he can control. At least they're not having to cancel 50 shows in the middle of a tour.

ok deb Alec was never replaced .. jon HIRED a bassist who was always pointed out as NOT BEING PART OF THE FAMILY ok ? but the deal is that Huey is doing the fulltime job (and he is doing it PERFECTLY ) but I feel like Jon could PLAY on the notion of not replacing Richie just like with Alec .. meaning after he is gone no one will take his place as PART OF THE FAMILY but ......

I soooo fear that ... I dont care about the concept of the family thing I think that guy ..richie is not just A guitarist he is 50% of the soul of that band

I soo agree and that is why I can not see Jon kicking him out and hiring a replacement, no matter how long it takes for Richie to recover.

Jon's not going to kick him out. If Jon has dealt with Richie's drinking this long, I doubt he is going to get rid of him now. Especially since Richie is FINALLY getting the help he needs. This isn't a new thing for Richie. I think he has just finally hit rock bottom and needs to pick himself back up again.

What amazes me is how it becomes about Jon when Richie's the one who's made some mistakes and Richie's the one who had to take responsibility for his own life and his own addictions. I also think it's a bit selfish for people to be bellyaching about the timing. It's better he get help than wind up dead. If it's a matter of doing those scheduled shows with a replacement or not doing them at all, I'm sure they'll weigh their decisions carefully.

I'd rather have them not doing shows and tv at all

I couldn't care less about touring shows promo or anything at the moment (keith prooved a promo can delayed right ? ) ... i am happy Richie is in good hands now but i wouldn't mind the jovi machine to stop and wait for richie to be ready ... instead of beginning without him ...you know it's about the brotherhood *thing*

I really cannot see Jon replacing Richie in the band. They're like brothers! And they've known each other for 20+ years. As long as Richie wants to get better, and going to rehab is a good start, there is no reason to believe he won't be back at work in the near(ish) future.

Sure the timing is bad, but didn't Keith Urban go into rehab around the same time a new album came out. Did it hurt his career? Is he doing ok now, Keith fans?
