Ride cowboy Ride

Cool song, bloody love it. I remember when NJ got released in September 1988, i was just 15 and i sent my big sister into town 1st thing in the morning ( she wasn't happy about this) to get me the tape and insisted she went she purchased and she returned and told her she had no time to shop for herself, as this was the most eagerly awaited album of the year. Upon returning and the thundering start to LYHOM ( BLEW ME AWAY), i was instantly hypnotised by the record. Any way RIDE COWBOY RIDE came on, with all its crackle sound and i wondered what the **** was goin on, i thought i had a dodgy tape and insisted my sister take it back in the 1st instance, give her credit she did and came back a hour later with a new tape, just my bloody luck i thought, if there is one dodgy tape in the world sods law i get it. So i put it on again fast forwarded to " RIDE" again" hopin to hear it in its full sound, but have a guess what, yep it played in that crappy sound again, i was mortified and told my sister again to take it back to the store and demand her money back as they obviously had a dodgy batch. She went back and in her words went ****in ballistic at the poor staff in store that this was the second time she had returned it in the space of 2 hours and had totally ruined her day ( she had to cancel a date ). Any way a member of the public saw her and store staff arguing and stopped a copper he made his way into the store to try and calm her down, which didnt seem to work as she started arguing with the copper about the sales of goods act and trading standards etc etc. Any way the store refused to give her a refund due to her being insulting to staff, and in the end got arrested for public order. Any way in the mean time i was down at my mates who had bought it on vinyl on the same day, as we were blasting it out i was reading the liner notes and how RIDE was recorded in mono, i didnt no what the **** it was, so as it came on my mate was like " yeah i love the way they have recorded this song, to make it sound really cheap" and as though it was recorded on a tape deck . 3 hours later my sister turns up and told me what had happened and what she did for her little brother and ended up getting nicked for it, even after she got released she went to another shop and got me another tape. i didnt know whether to laugh or cry at what had happened. I Thanked her and later she asked me if this one worked ok, of course to save face i said it did. So sue, you dont read these boards but i would like to apologise in the presence of the best fans in the world, one day when i have the guts i will come clean and say it was my fault for you getting nicked lol

I thought the story behind ride cowboy ride was that it had been recorded at some party hence the quality (or am I think of love for sale?)

Nice story, I like it as an intro to stick to your guns but wouldn't see much point listening to it on it's own.

Add me to the knackered "LP" group too. Thought I had a dodgy album and was so disappointed as I had waited outside the record store (wow, bet we wont be using that term for much longer) until the doors opened just to get the album.

One of my least favourite on the album though.
