No.

A lot of people listen to Bon Jovi, according to the sales. Probably they are the biggest Rock band formed in the last 30 years, behind U2.
But we can't say the same about popular bands being influenced by Bon Jovi, and thats why they will not be inducted in the HOF. It's about influences, not sales.
It's really hard for a Bon Jovi-influenced band to make it big, mainly in the trendy US.

Best regards.

I will help you with your joke list and include Green Day, The Offspring, Blink 182, Bush, Live, Foo Fighters, Bowling for Soup, Matchbox Twenty, Fall Out Boy, Creed, Panic at the Disco..

Best regards
I don't know who you are and what you are trying to do writing this but you can find in internet interviews with members from every band which i wrote in which they say that they (some members from this bands) love BJ music and they are influenced by BJ.

But you don't need to do it. Live in your own world.

I mean, there is no question that Seb is probably right here and that they should play Wanted and the likes instead, but what has it got to do with each other?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about inducting acts which influenced popular acts.

What popular acts had been influenced by Bon Jovi? There aren't.

The only bands that claimed being influenced by Bon Jovi are the scandinavian Hard Rock bands. But Hard Rock isn't mainstream as it was 20 years ago, so they are not very popular over there.

Slippery When Wet opened the doors for a bunch of poppy Hard Rock acts like Warrant, Winger, Trixter, FireHouse, etc. Everybody wanted to be Bon Jovi. And the people behind the HOF hate the 80s Hard Rock era, except Van Halen and maybe Guns N' Roses.

Best regards
Would I be right in thinking you previously posted under the name JKKDARK?

There really is no critical connection. However Seb's comment about the most recent 25th year anniversary of the RR HOF was that the setlist was awesome. In these type of situations (think about the limp 2008 New Orleans Jazz Fest show) Bon Jovi tends to play it safe. At the RR HOF show Bruce played Jungleland - an 11 minute track that is his masterpiece (in my opinion). Do you think that Bon Jovi would have played Dry County?

I always love fans of bands who get rejected by RnR HOF. They always say "Oh RnR HOF is disrespecting my band. You know what, RnR HOF is bogus (this part is quite valid actually)".

Then if somehow RnR HOF accepts them at a later stage, then they said "Oh it's great to be bestowed this honor, it's nice to be acknowledged, etc etc". Stupid bollocks.

It's the same thing with album sales. If sales are bad then "Oh the public doesn't understand the genius of the band, sales doesn't prove a band's greatness!". Then when sales of a different album goes through the roof, it's like "This album is one of the best ever, check the sales!" Fags.

Bon Jovi has never been a band appreciated by the critics. The bashing started in the mid 80´s. Songs like You Give Love A Bad Name were said to be no more than poor man´s Quiet Riot recycled.

For almost 25 years, I have been laughed at cause I happen to love this band. But it really doesn´t change anything. Bon Jovi has always been there, even against the odds if necessary. And how come they have sold 120 million records and continue selling out stadiums on 3 decades? The logical explanation would be that the people bashing them secretly listen to Livin´On A Prayer on full volume through their headphones back at home, with the curtains drawn down.

I don't, I just mistook that what they would have performed would make them not worth being inducted rather than not fitting the great set of songs by others.

All I can really say that this point is that if you don't believe that Bon Jovi belongs in the Hall Of Fame, then fine and if you do believe that they should be in the Hall of Fame then please feel free to go to the website, www.jovifansfightback.com and sign the petition. I honestly feel that they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

But how will you measure influence? Wouldn't that, theoretically, be sales?
