I have no problem with Huey not being an official member even though he has been an integral part of the band since These Days and played on the records. When Bill Wyman left the Stones they replaced him with Daryl Johnson and never made him official either.Yes I know many will argue that they made different contributions to their respective bands, its just my opinion.

If they get in Alec deserves to be there too.

I think Alec will get inducted, BUT the HOF has the power to induct whichever members of a band into the HOF that they want, no matter if they were "official" or how long they spent with the band.

Hugh wrote the bassline to Livin' On A Prayer. Not Alec. And according Richie it was them who decided to copy the bassline in Working Man. Not Hugh.

There was a short mp3 radio interview about 2 years ago (I think). It was during one of the elections and politically at least Alec was bashing the band. Though he did say that not all of them are *Libs*

He doesn't come off as a very nice guy.

And gee - if there weren't a file sharing ban on this board I just might upload the link.

Unfortunately - a guy on the nominating comittee hates Bon Jovi. Read an old post of mine and an even older post stating why:

I think he will use all the influence he has to keep Bon Jovi out.

Don't know if i believe that Alec never played on the albums, according to an old Kerrang interview:

It’s no secret that Such hasn’t played a note on the new Jovi album but Jon is quick to deny that the bassist never played on any album.
“That’s simply not true. Alec was never gonna play on this record, but that’s as far as it goes. It’s true that Alec started to leave the band some time ago, but his commitment to recording has never been under suspicion. If ever Bon Jovi get into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame, I hope that Alec will be up there with us.”

I've never missed him. There was something about him that always bugged me. From what I can piece together about the Ling intervew.... Alec probably denied it to Jon, which is why Jon went back to Ling and accused him of fabricating it. Jon simply wanted to believe Alec. Ling sounds a bit full himself. A journalist printing negative statements from a band member should be a bit more understanding why the leader of the band would be upset and less vindicative in response.

Alec is on the otherside politically? That is news.... but then it makes sense.

Do you have the interview somewhere? Or anybody? I'd like to read it.
