There was a program a couple of years ago about the history of metal and Mick Wall was commenting on Stairway To Heaven and how amazing the lyrics were. He said that Plant had written the song at the age of 17 or 19 (A young age anyway!) and that Jon Bon Jovi could never write something this good as long as he lived.
Well it seems that Mick Wall and his rubbish change with the times magazine can't really say too much as whatever bands are in or whoever they make alliances with will be in the positive press while those who they turn on be it because of fading popularity, not being co-operative with them or whatever will have negative press and comments like that thrown their way. I mean it was all dandy and rosey with the 80's hair metal and how good music was at the time but then a new music movement comes across and Mick Wall and Kerrang jump on the bandwagon and diss the bands/artists that they had on the cover of their magazine.

Stairway To Heaven is lyrically a great song but if only lyrics alone made songs, as for his little quote about Jon not writing anything as good as long as he lives there's Hey God, These Days, Keep The Faith, Dry County, Something To Believe In, Blood On Blood and many more. I think Mick would try just about anything to sell that joke magazine these days, think I'll stick on Use Your Illusion II and play song no.5.

Hendrix alongside Bon Jovi and U2?

their music is completely different.

they're all considered "rock" i guess, but i think the whole concept of "best ever" lists is flawed from the start.

It's a nice easy way for magazines to fill pages [see this months Q]

I'm sorry but Nirvana is so OVERRATED~ they were the IT band from like 91-94. I agree had Kurt Cobain not killed himself they would totally be has beens. Grunge music was a PHASE- and it has been over for a long time.

I am a little sick of the snide comments that it seems are made about Bon Jovi in most reviews of their albums, concerts, etc and now this list. Even when they are being praised in a review it is begrudingly. It seems they write things how the music is cheesy, not deep, etc but oh i guess we'll give them a little credit b/c Jon still has his hair and all the fans come out and see them. Like would it kill a critic to praise them without making a cheap shot comment at them first?

I don't think the band cares about the critics.I don't need a critic to tell me what is cool or what is in and all that shit.. . They have never been the critics darlings and I guess that even after 22 years and 100,000,000 albums they still aren't considered great in their eyes. Luckily the fans know what they are missing..

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

Mick Wall hasn't worked for Kerrang magazine for years. There is a completely different regime at the mag now. Even in the mid 90's to 2000 when the band were featured alot there was an Editor called Phil Alexander at Kerrang that supported the band but since he's left they don't get a look in.
I believe Mick Wall along with Malcolm Dome 'contribute' to Classic Rock magazine which the band are in very occassionally.
In the Uk there isn't really any publication that supports this band any more. Once upon a time even Q magazine featured the odd Jovi interview but there hasn't been anything since 2002.

Glad to see he's left anyway, seems like an idiot who loves his own opinion. So how long did he work with Kerrang magazine then?

I think it was mostly in the 80's.

I agree, I have just never been able to get into their music, despite many critics claiming that they are one of the greatest bands ever.
