I wasn't talking about the production, but the songs. For me, even the production on Slippery sounds dated, the first well produced album IMO is New Jersey. I just don't like most of the songs of the first two, they're not as catchy as the "big hits" that came later...

I always considered the first album as one with quite catchy tunes on it. Stuck with me from the first listen. Plus, musically, this and Fahrenheit beat the crap out of What About Now

I always had a soft spot for fahrenheit, the keyboards are pretty high in the mix, that and the guitars.. it maybe somewhat depressing lyrical wise, but it hits the right spot sometimes...

Back on topic get ready should've been second...

KTF,

Nick

There's no obvious second single on that album.

Get Ready sucks, Roulette is not bad. Other than Runaway, my favorites by far are Shot Through the Heart and Burning For Love... but I get why the label wanted to release She Don't Know Me. It IS the poppiest track on the album.

Where in the world did you pull up this bit of info? This might be your worst post to date. Were you hacked?

Seb,
Disco was a late 70s thing. Staying Alive was released in 1977. The movie Staying Alive was released in 83 which was a poor sequal to Saturday Night Fever.

Staying Alive was released in 1977. I really don't think it had much impact on what was being released in 1984. Bon Jovi were being marketed more to Quiet Riot than the Bee Gees.

Was thinking about this on the way into work this morning. Their single choices up to 2000 were actually pretty spot on. There was little on SWW that would have been huge besides what they released (IDFY maybe), same with NJ (Blood on Blood or WITW maybe) but I don't think they'd have done much more than the singles they released.

However, post 2000 they've made some very odd choices. Maybe nothing on the albums would have made a massive difference but they certainly haven't released the best or the most radio friendly songs in my view off of any post 2000 album.

Wild is the Wind would not be a good choice for a single. I think Stick to Your Guns is more fitting.

Wild is the Wind is my favorite track of Jersey but I agree... I doubt it would have made a great single, especially with all the other made for radio hits on that album.

I like Stick to Your Guns, but I think it would have been a big mistake releasing it as a single. New Jersey as a whole is Slippery 2.0 and there's not a song on that album more of a carbon copy than STYG. Again, it's a good song, but Wanted was special.

The only song that wasn't released on NJ that I think could have been successful as a single is Blood on Blood.
