Default RS Fender Mexico: Improving sound?

Ich have a Richie Sambora Fender Mexico and I'm not quite content with the sound of the single coil, especially when using the neck PU. For me the sound is too deep. It hasnt the typical Fender sound like in Stranger in this town, Dry county oder This aint a love song.

I'm looking for this sound:
I know this is the RS Fender USA, which has a really great sound.

Will the sound of my Mexico be like that when I change the single coils to Fender Texas Specials? Anyone did this and made good experiences? Or is it the wood and the bridge which makes the sound so bad like it is?

It will definately sound better if you put a Paf Pro in the bridge and 2 Texas Specials single coils on the guitar.

I've had one with that setup and it's the only guitar I ever regretted selling.

It was fairly easy to get the Keep The Faith sound, but you need a proper amp for that too. I had it running with my eleven rack with a soldano amp setting. It sounded awesome.
