Default Rumor: Jon solo album after tour

http://www.billboard.com/news/bon-jo...04124546.story

It's a long way off, but Jon Bon Jovi is already hatching plans for August, after he and his band wrap up touring in support of their 2009 album, "The Circle," and a "Greatest Hits" set that comes out Nov. 9.

"I'm going to sit on a beach for August, which is usually what I do, and come September figure out what's next," Bon Jovi tells Billboard.com. Some possibilities? "A smaller-sounding solo record and/or focus more on the philanthropy and sports ownerships," he says. "I don't see any acting in the immediate future. It'll be out of the political cycles, and there's nothing else I wish I could do. I'm not a coulda, shoulda, woulda kind of guy. If I wanted to do it, I tried it, so it's not like I have any hidden desire to become a chef or anything."

If he does take the solo album route, Bon Jovi -- who went it alone on the 1990 soundtrack for "Blaze of Glory -- Young Guns II" and on 1997's "Destination Anywhere" -- predicts he'll go for "a lyric-driven, acoustic-sounding kind of thing with piano, a couple guitars, a B3 (organ) and a violin. I do these solo things oftentimes for charity, and I enjoy the atmosphere because it really gives the singer a chance to sing. You're not competing with the loud amps. So I could see myself doing a singer's type of a record. We'll see."

Cool, I hope Richie will follow his idea

Best regards,

Could be interesting, since I'm pretty sure it'll be a glimpse of the future. After the (IMO) 2-3 more big tours the band will do, which I think culminates in a long farewell tour, I think Jon will solo tour small places a lot, in an acoustic kind of way.

And hopefully this will lead to the very long awaited Richie solo album...

i think a break from touring and the big band sound will do them good, jon is a smart man and knows that a break longer than 2 years wouldnt be a wise move considering their age and their worldwide status. we all agree that there has been too much exposure the last decade, many smart moves and many mistakes as well.
i look forward in a jon bon jovi record, a sambora record would be welcome as well but even if i am a guitarist and some years back i would kill for one more record from richie his writing seems lazy and unfocused the last years, maybe if he has the total responsibility of a project will make him work harder and try to reapproach his licks, his chords progression etc.
just another thought, even if noone will probably care, i think that if they have a small break, they manage to enter the h.o.f etc they may think they must continue as a band and keep building their legacy....in my opinion they need at least a year off, so 2 years between albums and 2,5 from touring in order to be anticipation, new song themes, freshness.time will tell...

An album like that sounds really cool. I like what Jon does when he's not trying to be commercial.

Me likey this idea. I loved Destination and something more introspective coming from Jon would be more than welcomed in my book.

As long as Richie isn't heading in the same route that his last solo tracks in soundtracks were headed then that would be more than welcomed as well. More musicals from the multiple Tony Award winner?? I'd be willing to bet there's a demand for him. Tico, where's that big jazz record you should have done 10 years ago??

I would love to see that come to pass. As much as I love what Bon Jovi have produced over the last decade I do think a short break would do them good. If Jon and Richie could put out solo records in 2011 and then come back and have a Bon Jovi album in 2013 or 2014, that would be brilliant.

Jon's two solo albums were absolutely fantastic. Really superb writing with a great sound. I look forward to this immensely if it comes to fruition.

I hope for a richie solo .... I love his work alone with a guitar

the Jon one with a violin like the performances he does acoustic for charity is ok but not at all my style .... I am not after Jon the person but if it's good then yes but what he describes sounds slightly boring to me (I love Jon's other solo but the way he talks about his idea of his next solo is not at all appealing to me)
