Sambora: No freedom in Bon Jovi

So, one interview he is the mastermind, writer, producer and backbone of all that was great in BJ, then he had no freedom? He promoted WAN and then decided later it wasn't ready. He had to leave the tour for his daughter but now that he has a new GF he's rarely seen with her. He's clean and sober, working on it for 8 years now but in an OZ interview mentions getting a few in him and some of the interviews were, well either exhausted or high. His image went from clean shaven fashionista photo shopped pictures for Nikki/Rich to Steven Tyler braids, stranger era facial hair old hippy. Said he feels 15 and acting it too. I honestly don't think he has a clue how he is beginning to look.

His voice is sounding better than Jon's right now but don't know if that will be enough.

There are solos on WAN. And there were tons of 'em on Lost Highway. Does that make it a better album than Crush? And does that mean Next 100 Years is a better song than Living On A Prayer?

Sorry but my neutered cat sounds better than Jon. Jon is in a ridiculous low now, he can't compare to anything.

Richie is sounding like shit too, worse than ever. And his decline was even worse than Jon's, in my mind. Jon at least declined steadily.

I saw Richie live in sydney earlier this year and i can assure you he didnt sound like shit .... He was fantastic ..... I agree that Jon has lost it .

He doesn't sound good to me. He sounds like he's screaming all the notes now.

The thing is:

1 - Bon Jovi is just business? Yes

2 - Richie solo will automatically produce great songs? No

That's simple, but at least we know if the guy fails, he's failling with his heart into it. With Bon Jovi, we can just think they're follwing a new trend.

Does anyone think Jon is aware of just how bad his voice sounds right now?

I think JBJ may end up like John Fogerty if it continues down this path.

He needs to let his vocal cords rest, heal, healthy lifestyle but some damage could be permanent. He did smoke for years. A lot of rockers have and still sound ok so think there is hope. But just like Richie and his "problems" it will not change until they see it and acknowledge that there is a problem.

I wonder if he needs surgery to correct the damage. That's a scary as hell prospect for a singer. I remember when Keith had his surgery a couple of years ago. He didn't know what he'd sound like when he could talk/sing again and he had to not speak at all for a month after surgery.
