I think this has little to do with money in the first place. As far as we know, Jon has always been a bit of a loner, even back in the 80s. As the years have passed, it seems he got increasingly more tired of everything that comes with touring. The reason he still does it, in my personal opinion, are to satisfy his ego and because he actually enjoys the adulation and affection he receives from crowds across the world. But I truly think him disliking the touring lifestyle has less to do with him having a bigger bank account than his peers and more to do with the fact that his personally is about as rock'n'roll as Charlie Watts.

From Nikki Sixx's book: "When they first got signed to Doc and we were both in Europe, Jon and I went to a brothel together in Germany. We were in this room with two twin beds and we each had a girl. We were both drunk off our asses and I looked up above my head and there was this Mick Jagger poster and the same one above Jon’s bed.
The girls were doing their job but Jon wouldn’t stop telling jokes in his New Jersey accent and I couldn’t get it up. Finally I said, “Bro, can you stop talking?” He said OK and kept on rambling. To say I didn’t get my money’s worth would be an understatement unless I was paying Jon Bon Jovi to tell me jokes, in which case I got a pretty good deal."

So I guess he was living in that little rock 'n' roll world time from time , at least in the 80s.

Oh, Jon certainly did live in that rock n' roll world, of course he did. Kid was the hotter than the sun in the 80s, he toured relentlessly all over the world til it nearly killed him. He is only kidding himself if he thinks he has fully lost that image. I'm saying that post-New Jersey is when that desperate distancing began.

Default Sebastian Bach

One of the most powerful male voices I have ever heard. Every syllable tortuously dragged screaming from his vocal cords.

"Wasted Time" and "I Remember You" were classics. Very different style to JBJ, but I am glad the two have made up. Perhaps Bas' stints in prison have made him wake up and smell the coffee?

In a very recent press conference he was asked about whether he was still into the "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll" kinda thing and he replied that things are not as wild as they used to be, but there's a reason why he's still doing this job (I'm only paraphrasing here, but my memory is quite good)... So, he seems to be pretty honest when he's asked about it. Of course, he's a very private and discreet person, but that was actually the case even back in the '80s, we all know that.

I don't think he's unhappy. He just appears to be someone whose always striving for something and is not happy to 'settle for things' professionally.
Certainly in his personal life Jon seems to be one of the most rounded people in music. He's one of the few whose managed to keep his relationships at home in-tact and seems very happy in that department. He doesn't let the media etc get in the way of that unlike other people we could mention.

Or maybe all rock stars aren't born with the same personality.
