I have never hidden that i'm a fan of Bon Jovi + certainly they are an easy target for people given their pop-rock style. I remember in H.S. - approx 4-5 years ago i had some friends that (a) also liked Bon Jovi (b) hated Bon Jovi + (c) couldn't care less. A general conclusion by most though, whether it was a serious conclusion or not, was that Bon Jovi was just Bon Jovi + to brand them as anything was pointless. They never set themselves up to be a straight rock band - even in the eighties when you could theoretically classify them as 'hard rock' - it was still pop rock b/c that's what was popular. O i feel i've lost focus here yet again... always do when i start rambling off. Anyways - back to the whole selling out bit - some people say they Sold Out with "Crush" but i don't think that's they case. Yes - "It's My Life" was a pop hit but so was most of their material in the late 80's + early 90's. Of course it sounded different - more modern - perhaps that is where the "selling out" theory originates from. They still sounded like Bon Jovi though + the rest of the Crush album was very solid - @ least in my opinion. It was with their "Lost Highway" album where i felt they tried too hard to capitalize on "Who Says You Can't Go Home" + did feel they were selling out. With 1 country hit to their name Jon decided to go + record a full country album - that is pretty much selling out. The rest of their albums - so their sound has changed + their new records don't sound as 80's as new Winger or Motley Crue releases but i wouldn't classify that as selling out. Immediately jumping at a trend like they did with "Lost Highway" - yeah, i would say that is selling out - redundancy accomplished!!

I wouldn't call the band a sellout, though I do think they may have retained more credibility and cemented a better legacy had they not tried so hard to remain commercially successful. The band is still making new music on a regular basis, which in a lot of cases is good a good thing. But I feel that they should make the music that comes naturally to them rather than sticking to a strict agenda. The only album I could really say is a sellout is TLFR. I think we're all agreed that this should never have been made. They desecrated a great bunch of songs there all to "try something new". I sure hope they made a lot of money out of that.

My fwends picked on me and bullied me 'cause Bon Jovi sold out - SO YOU KNOW WHAT I DID?

I TURNED MYSELF INTO A BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FAN.

Best thing I ever did. So to help other impressionable teenagers such as myself, I go around calling their My Chemical Romance's sellouts and their Green Day's sellouts.

If everyone did that, we'd all one day like the same band and world peace would be achieved. Until that one band the entire world favours sells out. Then the world is screwed.

I don't think TLFR was a sell out @ all - they wanted to try something new with their songs + so they did - it was a decision based on creative desires by the band.

calling green day a sellout is much worse than calling bon jovi sellouts IMO. The latest 2 albums were written for what they were feeling at the time and they wrote about it. For $70 floor tickets, I got a show jam packed with energy that lasted for over 2 and a half hours and 30 songs. I pay $180 for Bon Jovi (on the other side of the arena) and I'll get barely half the energy and passion as a Green Day concert. Thats not to say I dont like Bon Jovi... theyre a completeley different type of live act.. I just know you said that to piss me off. My Chemical Romance however, are sellouts.

Oh I wasn't having a pop at Green Day, they're just the only other band I could think of where idiots who were fans from the beginning go "Oh I liked them before they sold out. They're gay now"

That's such a childish comment. I wouldn't even waste my time with wankers like this if I were you.
