Brendan O'Brien wouldn't touch Bon Jovi with a stick, his rep would disappear.

I'll take the shot or that. I meant Last man Standing, but for some reason typed Novocaine.

Not a fan by any stretch. Who could be? The only reason we like any of the songs he produced is because that hidden behind walls of sound and nauseatingly glossy-production lie decent songs that JBJ and Richie wrote. The songs are held back because of Shank's poppy-bob, radio-friendly production. HAND the song is a perfect example of this. It's certainly not bad on the album, yet it's far rockier live.

You can't distinguish any real instruments in the songs he produces, they all have that same, vaguely American mix in them. Creatively, he obviously doesn't bring anything to the table either. In short, he sucks.

Of course, we can't blame him; Shanks is who he is. Obviously, this is the direction JBJ craved...

Well JBJ is obviously a good business man and knows the music market very well. But he is seriously letting the fans down, and that is obvious from reading all the previous posts!

However, was it Shanks who produced that Stand By Me song recently? If so then it's the best piece of work he has done with JBJ in opinion. Obviously it's not rock but it doesn't sound too over produced. Mabye there is hope for the new album!

And to be honest I would rather go deaf than hear another Bon Jovi country CD...

i'd love to hear mutt produce a jovi record.

but i think bon jovi are more "live" in their recordings.

he took five years to do hysteria ffs!

though at polishing turds he is a master-shania....leppard....nickleback!

they're the biggest band on earth thanks to him and they're pish!

To put it simply - bad. Don't really care how well he did with other artists, but when listening to something like the songs on HAND I'll be damned if I can distinguish one instrument from the other, everything's far too overproduced with Shanks.
