Shot Through the Heart and You Give Love a Bad Name are two completely different songs. The only similarity is that they both start out with the line "Shot through the heart." Shot came before Bad Name so maybe they payed a little tribute to Shot in Bad Name. They tend to do that from time to time in songs.

the song "Shot through the heart" is a song on the bands self titles debut album "Bon Jovi".

"You Give Love A Bad name" was origionally on the album "Slippery When Wet", followed by greatest Hits albums "Crossroad" and most recently "Tokyo Road".

Shot through the heart was even written before the band existed. It was originally recorded during the Powerstation years.

Shot Through the Heart was written by Jon and jack Ponti and predates Bon Jovi [as Christine mentioned]. They were in the band THE REST together.

Jack Ponti's version of it can be found under the band Surgin' (album : When Midnight Comes)

Bad Name is a great song, but the main difference is that Shot through the Heart is better!!!!!!!

They should be playing this nowerdays, it's got such great attack on it, it would be fantastic in a stadium, late in the set, when it's dark....atmospheric start then BAM!!!!

Shot through the heart is impossible to get on MP3 because so many people confuse it. It irritates the hell out of me, anyone had any luck locating a version that after 3 hours of download didn't end up being Bad name?

Shot Through the Heart is a great song...IMO, better than You Give Love a Bad Name. I would love to hear it live (Roulette also...do they do that one anymore?) I think Bon Jovi is an excellent album, with some of Richie's best riffs to date.
