Default Should BJ go totally acoustic?

Like the yokohoma, mtv and all other really acoustic (NOT TLFR)?

I mean, they are incapable of being a proper Rock band, they suck at being a proper Pop band.

So maybe there is all left where they are really good at. Just 2 acoustic guitars, dave on piano, tico on those goofy things. Nothing more, and just rock acousticly.

I never said that, you're putting words in my mouth. I said I'm happy where they're at.

Bullshit.

Say what you want about the violin/pedal steel, it works in this context. Great musicianship and the crowd love it.

Take a look at Tico and tell me that guy's not a rock drummer...

make a 9 minute of Richie from any other period and lets talk again. But yes that was a highlight, same for Richie solo performance. Richie IS the highlight every show for about 15 minutes. That's the problem, there are a lot more minutes too fill

That violin doesnt' work, if the violin wasn't there Richie would have more space to rock. She totally interups Richie solo...

Tico still rocks, I agree

It does work, though, in the context of that song. Whether you're a casual fan or a diehard, you can't fault the musicianship of anybody during the 'Any Other Day' part of that clip. Whinge all you like about people stealing Richie's thunder, that section has fans genuinally excited; and for a band which people are constantly criticising for playing by the rules, that's pretty good.

As much as we can all complain about the setlists, these guys are still playing some pretty good stuff. Setlists are a constant issue and yet check out sets from the Cross Road and These Days tours...they really aren't as mixed up as everybody assumes. I'm the first the jump on their backs for playing Sleep at every show, but things aren't that much different to 11 years ago.

We all get annoyed by the incessant pedalling of certain songs/albums, but, at the end of the day, there aren't many of us that go to a show and have too many bad words to say when we leave.

Name as many bands as you like, not many come close (in a live setting) to Bon Jovi.

Because they played what the crowd wanted to hear. And there were at least 3 songs from each album (minus the first 2 albums).

It's the constant focus on the same songs, tour after tour that gets us off. Back in 1995 New Jersey was only 2 tours old, so yeah, it's obvious that they're playing the big hits. Now it's well over 8 tours old and they're still sticking to the same songs. That's where most of the complaining comes to. Fans want the band to change the songs because of the lack of fan favourites.

Also, if the These Days and Keep The Faith albums would be well presented in the current sets, and songs like Hey God and Dry County would be played every night, there'd be a lot less complaining.

You can't be serious about this. The "jam" in Any Other Day in the end of the song is a mess really. Yes, it could work, but sadly, it doesn't and it's just a bunch of musicians each doing their thing at their time and all sound like Noel Gallagher improvising.

I disagree with anyone saying that violins shouldn't be there at all, because I agree with you that it could work. The thing is, how Bon Jovi does it, it only works during most of the new songs. Not because "I don't want to hear the classics in a different way" but because it simply sounds pathetic.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
