By the way I do like the band now and love the new album, just in case.
I SAID I WAS ATTACKED OVER MY CAPS NOT FOR MY OPINIONS. EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO THEIR OPINION BUT IT GETS OLD SEEING PEOPLE COME HERE JUST TO TALK DOWN BON JOVI AND HIS MUSIC AND CHARITY WORK.

Ok let me get something straight, Lea. where you live no one knows anything about BJ before Crush right? That is what you said. So if that is the case how would retiring have helped them?? If what you say is so then I guess if they know about Crush, Bounce and Hand, I would guess it means they are buying BJ records which only helps the band so I guess retiring pre Crush wouldn't have made much sense would it?
And darlin' before you get too busy saying the band are over the hill, take a look at the biggest selling tours out there. You'll find that most of those acts are Bj's age and older. The Stones are in their sixties and I don't think they would ever be considered "lame". U2 are BJ's age, Motley Crue are a few years older, hell even the boys in green day are in their thirties. One of the truly wonderful things about rock and roll is it's timeless appeal.

Considering 'It's My Life' is the ONLY reason Bon Jovi is still relevant, retiring after These Days would've left them much worse off than they are now. That comeback allowed them to break free from the likes of Poison and Def Leppard and other 80's bands who couldn't cut it in the present and actually gain some respect. And that is all thanks to 'It's My Life'.

Plus, despite how overall the albums aren't great, I liek a handful of songs on Crush, a few on Bounce and about half of the HAND CD. Not bad at all.

As bands move on in their career, they mature and often turn into a slightly different band. Take U2 for example, they are still going strong after 20+ years and even though their last few albums have been different, their fans still enjoy them and their live shows. I think Bon Jovi is very similar to this. Why call it quits when you still have something to sing about, and fans who will go and watch your shows. Yea, the music is different, the lyrics are more mature, but that's what happens as the band grows. I think BJ hit the spot with HAND, I don't know if they have anything left after this though.

Why should they retire? They are still successfull and had a big comeback in the USA with Crush. Just because you didn't like the albums after These Days? Well, loads of people discovered them with Crush. It will and was with every album, they will loose some fans and win some. As long as they don't loose more than they win there is no reason to retire.
