I like Hysteria by Def Leppard. I was disappointed with subsequent releases. I don't have to buy a CD just because Def Lep releases it, nor do I live to listen to it, nor do I have to go see them on tour. But I have no right to say they should have stopped with Hysteria. Very good point. DL hasn't been the greatest since Hysteria BUT there are a few tracks since then that I like.
I don't think Bon Jovi should have quit 10 years ago. For one it seems they still enjoy what they are doing. Another is that I do like every albums since TD except TLFR.
