krb,
I used President Reagan as a demonstration against your claim that speeches and song lyrics can't be compared.
It doesn't matter if they are colorful, or creative words. I am sure that you could get a point across by using 15 words or less, compared to some people who might use over 50. It is just the way you choose to do it.
If you told me to "get lost" I could understand that compared to someone else's "would you please vacate the area surrounding me." I'd rather have the simpler one. Why the need for excess baggage?
I understand the comments that I made. It's just up for the artist/speaker to choose how they want to do relay their message. Sure, deep, dark, rich lyrics are cool sometimes...but enough of them makes me wonder off into dreamland. It's like taking a road trip. Do we want to take the 60km scenic route, or the 15km quick trip. It's up to the band...and I guess us too, because why else would we be listening??
Take care,
Norm
PS- yes, there are some speakers who try to be imaginative with their words, and mess everything up!! as much as I love our current president, I think he does it sometimes!!
