The man has been drunk for 10 years and has been coming up with one bullshit story after the next one. He knows These Days is a fan favourite, so in order to make sure that fans love him for playing it he seems to need to make sure fans realize that that particular song they love was coming from him. With Richie nowadays it mostly seems to be about trying to convince others how important he really is, which kind of highlights how insecure he actually is.

I don't think so,Richie was drunk or high 90% of the time in Australia 2014 and he talked other sh*t like how he wrote alot of hits for Alice Cooper.
I don't think Richie can write all by himself such a great song like These Days, sure Richie can write good songs but when he writes with Jon the songs turn out to be more great than if he'd written them alone. Jon on the other hand, wrote alot of great stuff all on his own, songs like BOR ,Dry County ,Always ,Something To Believe In ,It's Hard Letting You Go ,Livin in Sin ,Someday I'll Be Saturday Night etc.
And from what I've heard the first song written for TD was Something To Believe In, which has that darker contrast that the whole album has which makes me think that Jon had more influence than Richie on the album.

You're basing this on what exactly? I'm not saying I think everything he says is true, but you're making totally groundless accusations.

I think he was drunk or high because of his attitude, his sloppy performances,he got fat again, his voice started to fail. I hope he was drunk and not sober, cause if this is Richie sober then just imagine him drunk.
I don't want to bash Richie and i really want him to come back cause the band just ain't complete without him. But it just isn't fair how he quit the tour for ''personal reasons'' and abandoned his fans just to spend time with his daughter, and after BJ ended their tour he started a new one just a few months later which for me just shows how desperate he is for getting attention.
Jon ain't better either but at least he doesn't skip gigs and shows up every night, although he acts like a robot during 90% of the show.

If Jon hadn't had a major hand in writing the song, it wouldn't have been the title track of the CD or one he talked about so much during promotion. I've got interviews where Jon talked about the writing of These Days (the CD) and if I get inspired, I might clean out my closet and try to find them and post them for you over the summer.

Richie's just trying to make himself out to be more than he is. I think he reads this board and he's spewing what his fans want to hear. Has Richie even written a song by himself? How many songs out of the ones he's written did he write alone? It's not very many (if any). He even collaborates on his solo albums.

Three on Stranger. Might be a couple of sountrack contributions or b-sides too, but if it's Mr Sambo vs. Santa Fe, I know who's got the better credentials.

It does feel like Sambora song for some reason. I'm sure Richie just likes the song a lot and wants to make it look like he was the only one who created it. He'd never say this if Jon was near I'm sure.

Not that we will ever find out so here is my theory. There's this story around how Axl Rose wrote the lyrics and melody to Sweet Child O' Mine after hearing Slash fool around with that little riff. It was a pattern he had accidentally 'discovered' and thought it sounded like circus music. So he kept on playing it and Axl over-heard it which led to one of the greatest 5 songs of the 80s.

I think a couple of Bon Jovi songs were written somewhat like that. Three in particular. Wanted Dead or Alive, I'll Be There For You and These Days. Why do I say that? It's because they are driven by a guitar pattern that, in all three cases, is very very much Sambora. And I can't possibly see Jon having come up with any of them. But, just like Sweet Child O' Mine, the key to these songs lies in these guitar patterns that I bet, Richie just had 'lying around', much like Slash and Sweet Child O' Mine. Then they sat together and built the songs brick by brick.

With These Days - the Answer has a similar structure and is similarly driven out of Sambora's little lick. Now would it be the same song without Jon? I very much doubt it. But I am sure it was born from a guitar lick spun by Richie and this is why Richie claims it. Jon, might see things very differently. He might have had the concept for the song in the first place, yet to me, it was always a Richie song, even before this whole mess that happened. These Days fits perfectly right in-between The Answer and Harlem Rain.

But, as I mentioned, it's just my theory....
