Hey Bongiovi, how's it going?

Whether These Days was true Bon Jovi or not, I think the fact remains that it's probably their best album to date.

I haven't heard much by anyone to top the lyric...

"I lost all faith in god, in his religion too,
I told the angels they could sing their songs to someone new,
I lost all trust in my friends, watched my heart turn to stone,
I thought that I was left to walk this wicked world alone,

Tonight I'll dust myself off,
Tonight I'll suck my gut in,
I'll face the night and I'll pretend,
I got something to believe in"

Come on, that's f**king heroic man!! Worthy of Dylan, Springsteen, Page or anyone else you care to mention! I don't think there's much that can compare with that on any of BJ's albums and that's just the first lyric I can think of off the top of my head!

These Days is a brilliant album, as is Crush. However, These Days isn't very happy and rocking. It's more of a sad album, to listen to when you have the blues.

The guys rarely perform songs from These Days, as did they rarely perform them on the actual tour. It's just not the rockiest, more upbeat type of album. "Crush" is awesome too, and it's also great for live performing.

But "Bounce".. I think.. will be the best album to hear live. The songs just have......live power.. ? Lol.

People need to quit comparing albums all in all. It's so typical of some of you.. Why do you compare?

These Days is one of their best records ever, it's not boring at all. The lyrics are very "spiritual" and strong, Jon's voice and Richie's guitar solos are amazing. Right, it's an album listening to when you got blues, but it's still fantastic. I think Bounce is a great album, it's better than Crush, cause of its rock style.

i got a bj fan because of td- i think it definately rocks- and they made sth out of their songs- there is no bj album consisting of mostly bad songs- i like most of them but the difference to me is what they do with those songs... td songs last from 4-7 mins- there are great richie soli, great in and outros, great mid-parts... this album is what i would call "creative"- but again i don't wanna offend any1- it's just me stating my preferences... and i also don't mind if there are co-writers as long as the songs are good- and they mostly ARE good (despite of everyday imho....) and i also don't think that past bj records have a high quality regarding the lyrics- "your love is like bad medicine- bad medicine is what i need..." or "lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me, lay your handy on me...." or "i just can't believe, it was all a lie- no man on the moon- just a big light in the sky..." or the hey god lyrics... for me bounce is the first bj records with "sophisticated" lyrics if you want to say so- maybe ktf (the album) has some good lyrics too... but i think the lyrics are not what bj is or was about- i think nobody ever visited bj concerts because of their highly intellectual lyrics- they never were political, never wrote a song for the world's piece- the only 2 things they had in some past lyrics was hope (and the opposite namely desperation) e.g. faith, i believe, prayer-- and love (always, there for you...)- those songs which didn't express one of these two (three) feelings were shalalala songs which intended to give the audience a good time (let it rock, bad name, hands, sleep when i#m dead,....) and i think that was good- and maybe this was a reason why i started loving bj- they didn't want to change the world, knowing that they can't- they just wanted to have a load of good fun and spread it...

Hallelujah

I totally agree with you on the lyrics. I can't
understand that some people think that BJ's
lyrics are the best ever written. BJ is not
about great lyrics. More about simple, easy
and predictable lyrics. Beautiful lyrics
are written by Tori Amos, by U2 if u like.
BJ's lyrics are catchy, as are the songs. It's
all about having a good time, that's why it's
stadium-rock. And I love it.

But to me it's nonsense when you say
that BJ's lyrics are the best you've ever
heard. You need to tune in to a decent
radiostation if that's what you think

BTW probably the only record where there
are nice lyrical parts is These Days IMHO

hey guys...for me, the best is ktf, then td then new jersey...among all those, ktf was richie's best solos...from ktf to dry county...jon vocals were powerful too...and not to mention tico's drumming from the fast pace i believe and ktf to slow ballads like bed of rosses...tico's drumming were also real good for i'll sleep when i'm dead...td on the other hand have also one of richie's cool solos...this ain't a love song, these days, lie 2 me, damned...all cool ones...and not to mention the superb lyrics...crush..was also not a bad record..only that crush has more like a pop rock stuff...like mystery train...but crush also has rocky tunes...one wild night,,,capt crash...i just drop by my local nearest music store, and bounce is there..i'll be getting it next week...but i really hope it's a nother new jersey....with more rocky tunes..
just kiss it..

Actually, I DO happen to think that Bon Jovi lyrics are the best I've ever heard.

They're upfront, meaningful, don't sacrifice rhyme for sound, and I can relate to them. Do you have a problem with that?
