And about the performance being bad. It was bad. Jon knows that he blows his voice when he does 2 gigs after eachother and I'm sure I'd be pissed off if I got a show like this. But your answer will probably be that I should be gratefull that I got my show and that there are people that do not get any shows...What's your whole point anyway ? The entire discussion wasn't about the show being bad, it was about SOME reactions from backstage.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
Actually, what is your point? To come on a board and lump everyone together and call them STUPID is just downright rude. As far as you knowing what goes on in my country and with the government here, do you really think that what the news media, including the most biased CNN, is giving you the real story? How arrogant of you to think you know. I wouldn't be here telling you that I know of what goes on in the Netherlands, even though I have a very dear friend there that tells me plenty. His views may lean towards his beliefs not yours and the two of you would not agree. You must have me confused with the fans that think the band walks on water. Guess again. Also, you can thank me and the other older, longtime fans (from all over the world) that have funded this band over the last 20 years so they could still be here today to entertain you. As far as some reactions from Backstage, you young guys love to make fun of the fans over there. It would be very easy for us to start a thread at BS poking fun at all the 18-20 year olds here. You long suffering rock Gods that want to make it in the business. You know what? All the young musicians are going to need the women that drool over their every move to keep shelling out money for the next 20 years. If you think that rock is ONLY about the music you are mistaken. Ask any extremely talented, but ugly musician, that hasn't made it. Unfortunately, appearance does count for the most part. Be careful what you say about fans. Jon appreciates the attention and knows what is said. He reads the BS board and I'm sure gets a kick out of it. I would never be so rude as to tell you to be grateful you got your show last night. I'll leave that rudeness to you. My, how you love making assumptions and putting words in my mouth.

Aimed at the original post (can't be bothered to read through the rest): for cripes sake, why can't people just leave each other alone? There are some things that people have said on this board (including you) that I think are incredible stupid, but I don't feel the need to go on some ego trip and humiliate people.

If people are having fun, who cares? They're not hurting you, they're not speaking to you, they're not even on the same bloody board as you.

I don't think it's a case of them not liking the music, but more that they could take it or leave it. Bon Jovi could do anything musically, and they'd go for it because they don't really have much of an idea on what music is, so they'll accept it.

If Bon Jovi looked like Iron Maiden would people be so into them? Methinks not
Hmm... I post over at BS. You think I'm stupid? I have more education right now under my belt than you have, including college, other course work and life experience. The fans at BS are having a good time. Many of those women have been very busy raising their children, like your mom, not having time for themselves to just get away from the daily chores of life. How nice that Jon and the other members of the band provide a momentary escape. We are not stupid and certainly appreciate the music. No one would stick around for 20 years if the music sucked, and we all know that some of the music has sucked! I'm sure there are fans here that have the same comments about Jon. I certainly wouldn't expect an 18 year old guy to get his rocks off looking at Jon ripping open his shirt (unless he were a gay man). You don't think Jon goes for the reaction? There has to be some fun in it for him. He's good looking and knows it. Afterall, you don't get to be so good looking without working at it. Daily exercise/weight training, porcelained teeth, hair color, chic hair style, designer clothing.... you get the picture. He WORKS at looking good. Sometimes I think the young male fans (not specifically just you) make an extra effort to point out only the music and not just the looks for fear that fans might think they are actually LOOKING at Jon. Relax. You can appreciate the good looks of the same sex.

Oh, and for the fan that mentioned it, yes, I did notice Jon's voice cracking and not being able to hit some of the notes during These Days. You sing for 2+ hours in the heat, 2 nights in a row and let me know how your vocal chords can handle it. It's certainly not the same as sitting in a climate controlled studio doing take after take for perfection. Cut the guy some slack!

This following statement concerns me, please explain,

Cathys quote The fans at BS are ahvign a good time.. many of those women have been very busy raising their children, like your mom, not having time for themselves to just get away from the daily chores of life. I wonder would a rock band (BJ) actually be sitting there when they were kids thinking oh wow lets make rock music so bored housewives can dream about us !!!!!!! Surely they would want their music to be appreciated. What would a grown experienced woman be needing to escape to Jon /Bon Jovi for?

Who said they are BORED? I said they are BUSY. There is a huge difference. I never said Bon Jovi makes music for bored housewives. Nice way to disrespect the moms out there (I'm not one by the way). I did say it's nice for the moms to get away from the everyday chores of life, meaning raising a family, working and daily life, and enjoy watching the band. If that means commenting on Jon's looks, so what? Don't you think it's harmless? The fan that started this thread chose to only point out comments on BS that make reference to Jon's appearance. There have been plenty of threads over there about the music. Oh my, I guess the only comments that should be made about this band should be about their musical artistic abilities. You should grow up and realize that rock and the recording industry has always been about music AND sex appeal. That's fact. Ca-ching! That's the sound of the band members' bank accounts while Jon prances and shakes his a** on stage. He's allowed to enjoy entertaining the female fans and those fans should not feel bad about enjoying it one bit.

You can not compare the situation in Holland with the one in the USA. The USA is one of the biggest countries in the world, and one of the most important. We get more info about the USA in a day then you'll ever get from Holland in a year. So it's no arrogance, it's just a fact.

Yeah right, like Bon Jovi wouldn't have been big without the backstagers. I think that longtime fans are a minority compared to the people that buy the albums and go to concerts.

Being hungry and wanting to make in into the business is more serious and intelligent then wanting Jon to rip off his shirt. Sure for a lot of us it's a dream, but it's something we're doing something for. Practising everyday to get better. It's something completely different. Richie must have had the same thought. So this statement is again totally stupid.

Nah, I don't think so. Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen aren't one of the most sexy persons alive. And they're still shelling out money.

Yeah, but Bon Jovi don't JUST have female fans, it's just that the male fans (and many other female fans) get tired of all this 'Jon, wow, he is hot', '... and when he opened up his shirt, I thought I'd died and gone to Jonny Boy heaven,' rubbish. Don't you think that music is more important than looks?

this is the exact point but from some of the comments this obviously isn't the case. and nobody dive on me for being sexist, backstage-ist or whatever the **** else you want to catergorise me as because i'm not making a sweeping statement, i'm just agreeing that a number of fans would be more suited to gareth gates.
