How arrogant of you to think you know. I wouldn't be here telling you that I know of what goes on in the Netherlands, even though I have a very dear friend there that tells me plenty.
You can not compare the situation in Holland with the one in the USA. The USA is one of the biggest countries in the world, and one of the most important. We get more info about the USA in a day then you'll ever get from Holland in a year. So it's no arrogance, it's just a fact.

Yeah right, like Bon Jovi wouldn't have been big without the backstagers. I think that longtime fans are a minority compared to the people that buy the albums and go to concerts.

Being hungry and wanting to make in into the business is more serious and intelligent then wanting Jon to rip off his shirt. Sure for a lot of us it's a dream, but it's something we're doing something for. Practising everyday to get better. It's something completely different. Richie must have had the same thought. So this statement is again totally stupid.

Nah, I don't think so. Steven Tyler, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen aren't one of the most sexy persons alive. And they're still shelling out money.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
You're missing my point about the US situation. You need to consider the source. You are learning about the US through media outlets, and I'm sure some friends, but that's not the entire story. Surely I wouldn't base my opinions of Holland and your gov't from the news media. You shouldn't do the same. Come live here first, then you can insult the US President and the governmental policies all you want.

When I referred to the female fans, from all over the world, for the last 20 years, I was not referring to Backstagers solely. I was encompassing the entire fan base. BS is a miniscule part when you consider how many fans there are. Oh, and longtime fans are not the minority when it comes to concert goers. The band has acknowledged that these longtime fans repeat and now bring their kids along. Perhaps it's different in Europe but here in America, it's the older fans that take up the majority of the concert seats.

I applaud your determination to want to make it into the business. To have the commitment to practice daily and strive to make it is highly commendable. It's very good to dream. Why I mentioned any of this was to tell you that you need to know that there is a part of the rock business in which image IS everything. To deny that, sorry, but you are kidding yourself. Be careful making fun of fans. Someday I hope you have your fan following that you are working so hard for. You'll pray that these same fans are still buying your records after 20 years.

I would expect a young man to make a statement as you have about Tyler, Jagger and Springsteen. There are MILLIONS of women that would beg to differ with you.

Don't you think that music is more important than looks?
Exactly right. My whole point in replying to this thread to begin with was that there are all kinds of fans. Why not let those that make it partially about the looks enjoy themselves. Remember, it was not posted here. Does Supersonic have nothing better to do than go over to BS looking for the "Jon is hot" threads and bringing it back here? We all know those threads exist. So what?

oh god

for ****s sake, dont turn this into another "Im so ****ing Smart Ive done this this and this" because NO ONE CARES

people ask why people cant leave 'them' alone, I personally have a great hatred, yes hatred, for Bon Jovi "fans" that adore Jon and his pretty face, **** the rest of the band, the music and so on

they are a disgrace to Rock, to Bon Jovi and to themselves

and even the Oompas admit that Jon would rather have the people that appreciate the music than those types of gimps

when I go to backstage and read shit like what was posted earlier it makes me physically mad, these people arent fans. They are just ****-wits

Yep, Jon sure looked like he was hating every minute of Friday night kissing those bored housewives
Give me a break- you all talk about Bruce and Mick like they are the icons. Well they are but believe me plenty of women have been just as "in" to Mick through the years and at Greasy Lake board we have a chicks drooling over Bruce thread (yes, that is the name of it) that is now over 20 pages long with pictures. I still think Bruce is very sexy and he sure loves to shake it during Waitin on a Sunny Day this tour. Sex is part of rock and roll- if I didn't like a band's music I wouldn't be following them but lighten up people. It is ok to like the way Jon looks and still be serious about the music. It is only rock and roll folks- if you want ugly and miserable there are plenty of other bands these days that will fit the bill.

Who said they are BORED? I said they are BUSY. There is a huge difference. I never said Bon Jovi makes music for bored housewives. Nice way to disrespect the moms out there (I'm not one by the way). I did say it's nice for the moms to get away from the everyday chores of life, meaning raising a family, working and daily life, and enjoy watching the band. If that means commenting on Jon's looks, so what? Don't you think it's harmless? The fan that started this thread chose to only point out comments on BS that make reference to Jon's appearance. There have been plenty of threads over there about the music. Oh my, I guess the only comments that should be made about this band should be about their musical artistic abilities. You should grow up and realize that rock and the recording industry has always been about music AND sex appeal. That's fact. Ca-ching! That's the sound of the band members' bank accounts while Jon prances and shakes his a** on stage. He's allowed to enjoy entertaining the female fans and those fans should not feel bad about enjoying it one bit.

-Cathy :- )
Disrespect Moms I am one, my bouncy baby will be 18yrs old next mth. Thats right , Ive been a Jovi fan since before she was in my tummy!!!!!!! I raised her through all Jovi eras. I think its disrespectful to mothers and Jovi to suggest its ok that a busy mother would need to behave in a childlike manner and escape to moon over Jons looks.

Do I think commenting on Jovi looks are harmless you ask, well they can take it a bit to far. Ive read messages regarding Jon taking off his clothes and what women want him to do to them. Thats way over the bounderies, Jon is married and the women posters need to concentrate on their real life relationships.

Jon has often over the years spoken out about these type of women fans and how uncomfortable it makes him feel. Ive seen him on stage and he winces quite often when a woman slushes over him. Its an act he puts on and I dont perceive that he enjoys it, at times I think its pathetic and see his body language as portraying this. (PS I work in counselling and can tell this!)

If Bon Jovi looked like Iron Maiden would people be so into them? Methinks not
Hmm... I post over at BS. You think I'm stupid? I have more education right now under my belt than you have, including college, other course work and life experience. The fans at BS are having a good time. Many of those women have been very busy raising their children, like your mom, not having time for themselves to just get away from the daily chores of life. How nice that Jon and the other members of the band provide a momentary escape. We are not stupid and certainly appreciate the music. No one would stick around for 20 years if the music sucked, and we all know that some of the music has sucked! I'm sure there are fans here that have the same comments about Jon. I certainly wouldn't expect an 18 year old guy to get his rocks off looking at Jon ripping open his shirt (unless he were a gay man). You don't think Jon goes for the reaction? There has to be some fun in it for him. He's good looking and knows it. Afterall, you don't get to be so good looking without working at it. Daily exercise/weight training, porcelained teeth, hair color, chic hair style, designer clothing.... you get the picture. He WORKS at looking good. Sometimes I think the young male fans (not specifically just you) make an extra effort to point out only the music and not just the looks for fear that fans might think they are actually LOOKING at Jon. Relax. You can appreciate the good looks of the same sex.

Oh, and for the fan that mentioned it, yes, I did notice Jon's voice cracking and not being able to hit some of the notes during These Days. You sing for 2+ hours in the heat, 2 nights in a row and let me know how your vocal chords can handle it. It's certainly not the same as sitting in a climate controlled studio doing take after take for perfection. Cut the guy some slack!

-Cathy :- )

This following statement concerns me, please explain,

Cathys quote The fans at BS are ahvign a good time.. many of those women have been very busy raising their children, like your mom, not having time for themselves to just get away from the daily chores of life. How nice that Jon and the other members of the band provide a momentary escape. QUOTE END

As another psychologist, I agree with that, Dawn. Sometimes he seems very uncomfortable.
