Default Something Different?

I like all Bon Jovi albums, some more than others of course, but I think that Bon Jovi records are always worth the money we (or in many cases, some of us) pay for them. I think Bounce is a good effort, and although not Bon Jovi's best work, it and Crush before it, have re-established Bon Jovi as one of the best rock bands in the world.

However I think that nearly all the albums are the same, with the same type of sounds and similar types of songs. I realise this is the case with most bands, but I now think it's time for Bon Jovi to try something different. I'm not saying totally change their image, or their sound, but I think that something like a rock opera would be good. Maybe Tommy and Gina could be two of the main characters in the story. If you have ever heard Tommy by The Who, or The Wall by Pink Flloyd then you will know exactly what I mean. I think that The Wall is a little strange, and I'm not too fond of the music, but Tommy by The Who is amazing, and it's probably one of my favourate albums ever. I think something like this would be ideal for Bon Jovi at this stage of their career, but unfortunately, I can't see it happening.

What do you guys think?

I don't agree with you... I think they've developed from each album to album... And the biggest developements are from New Jersey to Keep The Faith, and from Keep The faith to These Days.... AND from These Days to Crush....

Yes they have developed, I'm not saying that, but I feel they are doing the same things over and over, which is ok at the moment, but quite a lot of people are starting to say, well that's just the same as that and Bon Jovi have had their good days now. I don't believe Bon Jovi have had all their good days because they a still a damn good band, but I think they need to do something different.

If you listen to Bounce and some of Crush then you wil probably notice that some of the lyrics, and guitar riffs are similar. E.g. Everyday is about the same thing as It's My Life. The guitar riff from I Can Make A Livin' Out Of Lovin' You, is very similar to that of I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. The guitar solo of The Right Side Of Wrong is very similar to that of a couple of other Bon Jovi ballads. They have used similar lyrics in a few different songs too. E.g. "I can take the hit, but I can't take the fall", "These five words.....", and a few more that I can't bring to mind at the moment.

I'm sorry if I'm becoming a critic. It's just that Bon Jovi are my favourate band, and although they have a big status, to get a reputation of one of the top 5 bands ever, they need to do something different to keep people happy. I realise it's hard these days with rap and pop taking over, but I hope you can see my point of view.

As they become older, they will have to change their style if they want to be taken seriously (not that they are now, but they will become a joke if they continue with the same sort of pop/rock). They cannot be making anthemic stadium crap like IML and Everyday when they are 50 years old; they have to go back to the These Days style of music.
