Sounds legit, audio quality is pretty good too (not quite studio level but still good).

This is what he said to say about the Ebay auction:
@matthewsurina island made ebay close my acount, but I'll keep on going here. Sorry for late answer today's a new day
Why Obie did not put this in New Jersey deluxe?

The recording might have been lost, or even not be the band at all. I'd say we wait until we know more before we assume that Obie ****ed up.

It still might not be available in good enough quality; to release CDs at a commercial level like BJ certain standards have to be met.

Could have been a separate download though....

Though I understand the excitement and in general share it - esepecially with regards to a unheard demos: Am I the only one thinking that this thing doesn't prove anything?
It sounds so interchangeable that it could come from any place and I still think that it's just a guitar in the beginning and no voice.
Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have a proper version of that song. But not so long ago I picked up a scan from a BWJBJ fan-club magazine which featured an interview that was taken around the "grey period" I think. Jon was asked about the song and replied something along the lines that they had written and performed it on tour, but never gotten around to actually go into the studio and cut it there. Since it was shortly afterwards I can't imagine him losing track about them doing the song in the studio.
That's why I could've bought some sort of rehearsal recording with Jon and Richie on acoustic guitars, but can't imagine where a full-band version should stem from...

It's a bit open to interpretation though....Jon could have meant that no proper studio version (i.e. releasable) was recording but a "home" recording could exist which was never intended to see the light of day.

I am with you Dominik. That sample proves nothing to me. Even the Mona Lisa sample was 45 sec. I still call bullshit.

Gah can't believe Mona Lisa never leaked after some woman paid $500.00 dollars for it! Looking back over the thread made me listen to the snippet again, very frustrating!
