This is probably old news and been discussed but I just came across this today. It's an article with Stuart Smith, Richie's former brother-in-law from the band Heaven and Earth. He talks about Richie performing on one of the songs, Man and Machine.

They did more than what. They co-wrote with Desmond Child, produced it with him and played on it. Bon Jovi played on both We All Sleep Alone and Bang Bang '87. It was mixed by Bob 'Keep The Faith' Rock.
