At 5 seconds into this vid, Jon admits to "stealing" - "Never Say Goodbye" - from this song, that they play in this vid, (along with a special guest). The expression on Jon's face is priceless, imo. I'd like to bottle that expression and sell THAT!!!

Great song, great vid, though.

BTW, I think it's inevitable that some, songs/lyrics/chords, "stealing/borrowing" happens in this day and time.

In fact, I'm sure that it's gone on for years and years.

At least Jon is honest about this one, which is funny as hell. I love Richie in this one, as well.

Truly, imo, a great vid, enjoy!

Ahhh... Belinda Carlisle - imo, this vid does not do her voice, justice, but it's good, anyway.

"Heaven Is A Place On Earth" :

There are only 12 notes, so yeah

It's odd Richie doesn't know they borrowed from HOS since he wrote NSG :\

I always thought that was a great moment. Richie tends to mirror and support what Jon says so to hear him take the opposite opinion, in public no less, was so great and kind of embarrassing.

That's a good point! For me, I never understood the whole song writing credits thing as a whole (which has been in multiple topics as well).

My opinion when hearing this is, Jon is giving credit to an underrated great song by comparing it to one of his big hits and don't belive it was intentionially stolen. That's why Richie reacted the way he did. He was caught in the middle.

And for the record, Bruce Springsteen wrote Hearts of Stone, and then gave it to Southside Johnny to record. It became a hit for Southside. Bruce didn't include it on anything until he put it on Tracks in 1998 as a solo piece.

Jon makes no bones about Southside being a big influence so he was being nice about this song in public.

There is a difference I think between stealing and being inspired by a part of a song, liking the sound & lyrics and using it. But i do think the 2 have been happening for years.

The Bruce version is so much better IMO.....

I never understood the fuss over Southside but in all fairness, I've never seen him in his prime. His voice and style do absolutely nothing for me.

I hate when Jon considers him a "Special Guest". The only reason why more than 20 people know who he is, is because of Jon. To me, he's a washed-up wanna be Bruce Springsteen who had a year or 2 of modest success thanks to Bruce and still has his name floating around thanks to Bruce and Jon. 90% of the people at his shows are only in hopes of Jon or Bruce being there.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off topic. I'm just annoyed because Bomboozle tickets went on sale and they are, of course, ridiculously high. Bon Jovi are announcing "Special Guest" and I'm sure as shit it aint Bruce. In Asbury Park, Bruce would not be a Special Guest to Bon Jovi. He would just come out and do his own thing..... SSJ being Jon's "Special Guest" is the only way that washed up weasel could get to play at such an event.
