IMO they should've never bought it, because it takes up way too much of their time and energy. Seems like everything the band does nowadays is either throwing one-off gigs at Borgata or promoting a football team. Sounds like a bunch of has-beens instead of a rock band.

OK, I have a couple of questions please? What exactly should they have played at a pep rally for the football team? I mean it's not a BJ show per say and you can't assume that most people there were BJ fans, so... what should they play? And for those of you who feel that Jon and Richie should not have bought a football team Why not? I know some of you think that the team distracts them from making music but isn't it true that if not football it would be something else, I mean if they are looking for other things to do they are going to find something aren't they? Can you be certain that if there was no football they would spend that time doing music?

Well, yes, but it's their money, their time and their energy. I sort of understand now they have the money they want to make their other dreams come true. I think for an American football fan it must be quite a thing to have your own team. If they devoted all their time to music they'd be like nuns in the convent or something.

I know their way downhill started when they started having "hobbies" but it's their choice.

But I see what you mean though. And sort of agree too.

In my opinion they should do what they feel like. They started being musicians because they wanted to. They made their best records because they were in the mood to. So if they want to do other things - own a football team, make movies, paint, whatever... - why not? It's their lives. I, for sure, wouldn't like to have a new Bon Jovi album every year just to make the fans happy. They do what they feel like. The songs on each album are a mirror to what they are at that exact moment. That's the right thing to do. These Days is my fav record, but they moved forward, and despite I dont like Crush or Bounce as much as TD, they proved that their opinion is stronger than anything else. When they released SIIS as second single everybody - including me - questioned if it was a good choise. But they did it because they loved the song. Same as Misunderstood. When Bounce was released Jon was always talking about how he liked that track. Bottom line is: I dont want them to turn into an act that releases the same record over and over again, they should only do it when they feel it's time to do it. And so far all the songs were given from the heart. I know it whenever I listen to one of their songs.Sure there are ones that we like more than others, but that's why every fan has its personal favorites.

I'd rather have lousy records that came from the heart that platinum records that were manufactured to please fans.

Their self determination and confidence made them what they are, and as long as they feel like making music, they will deliver us what they are, whenever they feel they need to express their opinion.

I agree that we all should give our opinion and criticise what we think it's wrong - that's why I come here to hear your opinions, and give mine whenever I think it will contribute with something for the discussion.

The band has its identity and because we all know how good they are we all push our expectations very high.
Let's all hope this new album is in the same mood we all are... a good one

It always amazes me that some people think that any band or celebrity “owe” them something as a fan. Sure, many celebs are grateful and it’s good PR to play the “nice guy/girl” but where someone takes their career, like any other in this world, is their choice. They wrote music at one time you wanted, you thought the price was fair and you bought it... fair trade. Why do people think that this entitles them to say what these guys do with the money they’ve earned?

If Jon wants to smoke, if he and Ritchie want to buy a football team, if they choose to put 10 tracks on the album why the hell shouldn’t they? Sure, they may be risking their future income from the music industry but that is their choice.

If you aren’t liking what you are hearing and still feel “wronged” why not save your money next time you are in HMV and spend it on a self-help book along the lines of “Celebrity stalkers: are you too close?”

No one's saying they can't do what they want, we're saying that in our opinion they shouldn't.

Maybe you should pickup a book called "Sarcasm for dummies". Stalking and having an opinion are no way connected.

Thinking you are taking my opinion a little personally.

That's what pisses me off when I see shelves full of magazines in shops with photos of celebrities doing their shopping or out with their friends etc. The general public seems to think that these celebrities owe them something, but as you said we pay for the products that they produce, that is as far as it should go.

People spend too much time reading about what certain celebrities are doing, and whereas it is their right to do so, it should be that celebrities right not to have their every move watched, giving them almost no privacy at all.

In terms of this thing with the "football" team I think they can do whatever they want. If they still write and record music and I like it then I'll buy it. It is just your own opinions saying they shouldn't do such things, but they are very selfish opinions; "I want the band to concentrate on music and have no fun whatsoever doing things they enjoy" is basically what you're saying.

Sure! They've earned their money - whether it came from you and me, it doesn't matter - and are now free to do whatever they want with it. You may or may not agree with what they do, you may think it distracts them from writing good tunes, whatever. But just because you miss the good old days it doesn't mean to have to put their lives on hold just to please you because you bought all their records and stuff.

Who says they have to? You people take everything too literally.

Wouldn't you want Donald Trump to give you $1.000.000 just for being you? You can't make him do it, you have no effect on what he does, but it still would be nice if it happened, no?
