Jon has never said "vote for Kerry" He has always told people to go out and vote, he never says who to vote for. He is doing this to support HIS candidate and to let his voice be heard. He is also bringing younger voters into this and encouraging them to vote for a candidate.
Jon votes for Kerry and goes out on the road to promote Kerry and then he tells people to vote. You don't actually think he needs to say for which candidate people need to vote now do you ? Just because he doesn't say it doesn't mean it's not clear for which candidate he thinks people should vote for.

Salaam Aleikum,

think it's a good thing that musicians are getting involved in politics. It'll encourage some younger voters to get involved.

That's true. I just hope that this really awakes the interest in politics and that these young voters don't vote the party just because their fav. musician/actor/whatever supports him. I'm not talking about Bruce and Jon but in generell. Every party has his supporters.

In a few years time (if not already happening) a candidate can pay a famous artist like JBJ just for his influence. Not right if you ask me and next to that what the hell has JBJ to do with politics. He's a musician (a rockstar for some) already took a other direction with movies & presenting. Oh oh the thouhgt just went trough my head ... in 2008 canditate Jon Bon Jovi speaking: ''we gotta live when we are alive in this country'' & ''it doesnt make a difference if we make it or not''

And your point is??
It's still up to YOU who to vote for. I don't see anything wrong to use your popularity and stand up for what you believe is right. It IS THE big difference that he does NOT implicitly tell his fanbase who to vote for. It IS THE big difference that (I believe) he is NOT paid for what he says.
He will NOT stick to being just a rockstar just because YOU would like to see it. He is as free to do what he wants as you both are.
He achieved being a rockstar without you and he will as much support Kerry without you.[/quote]

I don't agree with any celebrity whoring themselves out for the gain of some idiot politician, because lets face it, all politicians suck. Of course this is just my opinion.

I wouldn't agree with them influencing people that way in normal circumstances - let´s face it, even if it's wrong and silly there *are* people who vote for a given candidate just because their favourite star happens to support them. But in this case it's special circumstances and I think it's right of Jon to go out on the road with Kerry and encourage young people to vote for him.

I was just reading part of a speech Jon gave where he said it was a weird thing he was there since he was one of that 1% of people benefiting by Bush's new tax laws

Something along the lines that the richer you are the less you pay and the poorer you are the more you pay in taxes. Fair, isn't it?

It isn't that cut and dry but Kerry's alternative is to raise taxes amongst those making more than 200,000 a year, while Bush is for cutting taxes in general.
