Default Springsteen VS Bon Jovi

I have always wondered what the relationship between Springsteen and Bon Jovi (most notably Jon) is. I always hear Jon give credit to Bruce as a major influence and have heard him say that New Jersey belongs to Bruce. I have never really heard any references Bruce has made about Jon and the Band. Is there a sense of competition, pride, brotherhood? What does Bruce think of Jon's music? Has Bruce ever given jon props? Any thoughts....

I'd assume they're friends, as they've guested at each others shows a few times

They do countless benefits together, and have for years. I can't say that I have ever heard Bruce praise Jon, or his music in words. However several times when they have been in the same cities Bruce has invited Jon and Richie to guest with him on a song at a show -1993, 1999, 2008 and most recently Hyde Park. Unfortunately that didn't actually happen due to time constraints but Jon and Richie were there and the press confirmed that they were going to play together. I doubt that Bruce would invite him as a guest to one of his own gigs if he was uncomfortable with him or his music.

I can't say that I know of Bruce actually being invited to sing at a Bon Jovi gig though. Perhaps he was invited and turned it down - who knows?

All these guys have known each other and played together for years. Remember, Little Steven guested with Bon Jovi on the 1995 tour. Bruce's keyboardist Roy Bittan played on the original Runaway recording etc.

Jon was due to come out and sing with Bruce in Londons Hyde Park Calling last week, and only didnt because they went over curfew. Id assume they're good friends if they make regular appearances together.

I think it's a good relationship, both have made guest appearances at each others shows and Jon respects Springsteens legend status but I think Bruce also sees Jons contribution to the industry.

Jon's talked about how he and his wife have spent time with Bruce and his wife, so I think they have a friendship beyond what the public sees.
